Hana Sunomiya (須ノ宮 花, Sunomiya Hana) is a supporting character of the Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro manga series. She is a high school student who joined the art club during Senpai's third year as well as an acquaintance of his since middle school and the younger cousin of the former President, with whom she shares a striking physical resemblance and habit of public nudity. She is a kōhai to all of the other characters and immediately became a huge supporter of the relationship between Senpai and Nagatoro.

Appearance

Sunomiya is a beautiful, shapely, and very tall high schooler with a bob cut, straight dark purplish-black hair (sometimes combed in odango) and a jagged fringe. She has very pale, delicate-looking, fair skin and sharp, cold-looking purple eyes. Except for the hairstyle and the slight rounder cheeks - that signified her far younger age - she's almost identical to her older cousin Sana; also, despite her age, she's quite tall and, albeit having a seemingly less athletic physique, sports her same firm butt, massive boobs, thin waist, long legs, and slender arms. Sunomiya also has her cousin's same tendency to rarely smile and is often depicted with a serious look on her face, albeit in stark contrast with the President's stoicism, she's very prone to getting angry-looking as well.

She typically wears her school uniform consisting of a white button-up shirt (whose sleeves and collar she always keeps fully buttoned), a red knot tie, and a long navy blue skirt completed with a pair of sneakers and light soccer socks. However, in summer she wears a short-sleeved shirt in her uniform, while in winter she is shown to wear a light brown sweater, black tights and occasionally a blue blazer.

When not at school she always sports a very glamorous, refined, Victorian-fashion or gothic lolita and very feminine choice of clothing; however, she prefers to wear nothing but her underwear when she can get away with it.

Personality

Sunomiya's politeness and respect for Senpai.

Despite coming off as a stoic, serious and emotionless individual, Sunomiya is seemingly also very well mannered and polite, as she properly greets older students with a bow before starting to talk, raising her hand before asking a question to be sure to have permission and worried not to sound "rude" albeit being quite direct and honest about her thoughts and, while progressively taking a dislike on Nagatoro's clique even going as far as to call them "fiendish spawn of hell". She's very meek and humble, as despite being considered a fast learner and an extremely talented painter, she claimed to have a lot to learn, states to be inexperienced and regards Senpai as the person who "taught her everything she know". Sunomiya is also very dedicated and enthusiastic about art, stating she looks forward to working with Senpai and that it would be her pleasure to have a rough sketch session with him also she views Nagatoro as "a goddess" due to the influence she had in evolving Senpai's art and graphic style. When she's passionate about something Sunomiya is also extremely energetic, expressive and very eager to anger burst. Also, according to Senpai, she sometimes act older than her age, as if she was his mother.

Sunomiya also sports her older cousin's same extremely nonchalant attitude about exposing herself, having no qualms in taking off her uniform in front of Senpai; however, she may be still "in the making" as a nudist and visibly blushes while doing it, proving to be at least a little nervous and not as shameless and unaware of erotic situations as her cousin.

Nevertheless, she strips very often, has absolutely no problem lightheartedly revealing that "her body has yet to know love" in front of a boy, and seems very comfortable and likely enjoys wearing nothing but her underwear. However, despite all of this she get extremely embarrassed, blushed vividly and act very nervous while even simply thinking about sex.

Sunomiya's love for eccentric things.

Sunomiya's life philosophy is to find beauty in all eccentric things and she does have indeed a love for eccentric stuff; for example, despite believing that Senpai's movement does indeed have a peculiar quirk she also finds it amusing to the point of not having any problem at all in imitating it just for her pleasure. She's also incredibly perceptive and has remarkable detective skills as well as unnatural deductive abilities but often pretends to be "dense" in order to extract information from others.

Due to her age, she always refers to all of the other characters adding the suffix "-senpai" (先輩) to their surnames. Sunomiya is also very physical and has a habit of gesturing a lot when she speaks.

• Her first name was revealed in a bonus strip for Volume 11 set after Chapter 85 as, while they were going home, the President referred to her as Hana (ハナ, Hana), a common Japanese girl name that means "flower", whose writing in kanji was confirmed in Chapter 142 to be 花.
  • Sunomiya is the very first character whose name was fully revealed shortly after her introduction.
  • The surname Sunomiya is composed by the kanji for "ought, by all means, necessarily" (須, su) and "temple, shrine, palace" (宮, miya), divided by the katakana syllable (ノ, no), thus being literally translatable "tempe of necessarily".
• She's the first character ever to be younger than Nagatoro, as well as the youngest character ever introduced so far.
• Sunomiya is the first character to have ever called Senpai by his surname, thus revealing it to the readers.
  • Also, albeit indirectly, by introducing herself and later being presented as the President's younger cousin, she also confirmed the latter's surname and, in the chapter after her debut, also her first name.
• Due to Chapter 83, 84, 93 and 110 having got their titles from lines spoken by her, she is the fourth character after Nagatoro, Gamo-chan and the protagonist's sister to ever name a chapter; the fifth being Senpai, the sixth Shikki, the seventh Sakura, the eighth her cousin and the ninth Yoshi.
  • Sunomiya is also the first character outside the protagonist to name two consecutive chapters.
• The age gaps between the characters, plus middle school in Japan only being for three years, implies the following:
  • She and the President were not middle schoolers together, as the President had gone on to high school when she entered middle school.
  • She and Senpai were together in the middle school's art club only during his last year/her first year there. Similarly, they meet again in high school during his last year/her first year.
• Sunomiya and Machida are the only characters, outside Nagatoro and Senpai, to have somewhat taken part to the putting that aside joke.
• In Chapter 85, she tells Senpai that "her body has yet to know love", which implies she has yet to feel romantic love towards anyone, despite Nagatoro's implied fears of having a romantic rival in her over Senpai. However, the way that she says this with emphasis on "her body" could also imply that she is a virgin, or it could be an unwitting double entendre.
• As of Chapter 87, Sunomiya is the second character, beside Senpai, whose thoughts were seen by the readers, preceded by Gamo-chan a few pages earlier.
