Biography

Early life

Naoto was born on May 10 in Hayama, Kanagawa, an only child; both his parents are managers who often leave him alone due to their job, making him a latchkey kid. He grew up in a house in the suburbs right after a tunnel at the left of the first intersection past the public park; as a child he developed an interest for arts and began drawing.

Senpai was bullied since early childhood.

An introverted and awkward individual, he was bullied since early childhood, eventually maturing a philosophy of indifference for safety: avoiding bullies' gaze, closing his heart, and letting it pass; doing this he developed a defense mechanism that made him unable to even remember the faces of the people who bullied him. Despite being a victim of bullying for years, he never cried in front to anyone.

Senpai and the President part ways after the Culture Festival.

While in middle school, he was part of an art club where he met and get acquainted to Hana Sunomiya, a young kōhai who developed an immense respect for him, since he taught her the basis of drawing.

At some point in his life he made friends with Takao and Hino.

After beginning to attend Kazehaya High School, he was placed in class 1-B and joined the art club, developing a huge crush for its President: Sana, Sunomiya's older cousin; however, on the last day of the school's Cultural Festival, in which he helped her organize their club's display resulting in a huge success, she thanked him for having allowed her to have some good memories before having to go to cram school like all the second years, thus becoming unable to join club activities anymore and leaving the art club and its activities to him. Since then he was left as the only club member.

Story arcs

Meeting Nagatoro

The first encounter between Senpai and Nagatoro.

One afternoon, during his second year, he walked into the library expecting to find it empty as usual, only to discover a group of four girls actually went there to chat. He sat quietly a few tables away from them trying to finish his homework, until the pages of a manga he drew fell on the floor and are immediately spotted by the girls who started to mercilessly criticize it and making fun on him. Only one of them remained after her friends left the room and, despite calling him her "Senpai", she started to mock him noticing the manga protagonist was a self-insert of him, but acted more manly than he could ever do. Crushed, the boy started to cry and she gently wiped his tears away with her handkerchief, cheerfully apologizing for having bullied him and run away.

The following day he was approached in the school corridor right out of the art club room by the girl, gave her back her handkerchief and told her to go away but, instead she proposed model for him as an apology for having bullied him the previous day, sexily told him that if he made a good paint of her she would give him a "reward". However, due to the final result being more similar to a sketch since he was too embarrassed to look at her for more than a second, she started to mock him again and reduced him to tears for the second time.

The following day the girl met Senpai on the street and started to tease him once more, then she asked him why he never got mad with her, despite the fact she did lot of messed up things to him, he answered that he didn't dislike talking with her. After this, she formally introduced herself to him as Nagatoro, despite preventing him for doing the same, saying that she preferred to call him just "Senpai".

After this, the two formed a weird friendship-like relationship and quickly became inseparable. Nagatoro started hanging out in the art club room daily after class in one occasion she mocked the manga Senpai read calling it "lewd" and causing an incident after which they both tumble down and her right hand accidentally landed on the boy's groin, embarrassing them both,

while in another occasion she tried to re-enact a vampire movie they saw on TV and bite his neck, pinning Senpai to the ground but backing off at the last time due to the garlic in his breath from the yakisoba he previously ate.

Once he watched her from afar as she took part at a date combined by a friend of hers, noticing how she acted coldly toward every other boy but him, realizing she kinda enjoys his company and likes to sexily teasing him at every occasion, even for the simplest thing, like washing their hands together. She also kept forcing him to draw her, even bringing a sofa in the art club room so she could do many different poses; due to Senpai having difficulties in drawing her, after a while, Nagatoro felt sleepy and shifted position one more time to lie down for a moment, remembering that he would get a reward if he painted her well enough. Watching how cute and innocent she seemed while sleeping, he finally managed to do an extremely accurate painting of her. At first Senpai felt proud of himself for finally managing to draw the human female figure, however he then started to feel embarrassed hoping Nagatoro never saw it, without realizing that the girl was actually already up and right behind him; keeping her promise, the girl kissed him on the cheek.

After said event, the introverted boy even began to have Freudian dreams about Nagatoro.

Over time Nagatoro start to get concerned about hurting his feelings and tried to help Senpai respond to his disses by improvising a manzai sketch (Japanese cabaret) to make a retort to her insults. However she went too far insulting him and he eventually got offended. Realizing her error, Nagatoro apologized and tried to cheer him up, telling him to hit her shoulder to make a comeback, however as he did it, due to the tears in his eyes and the anger, he accidentally hit Nagatoro's chest instead of her shoulder, making them both embarrassed but resolving the tension.

Introduced to Nagatoro's friends

Senpai meeting Nagatoro's friends for the first time,

One day Senpai was invited by Nagatoro to have lunch with her and her friends Yoshi and Gamo-chan at the school cafeteria, introducing him to them as her boyfriend. Getting jealous, her two friends started to tease him and calling him names, causing the girl to get angry and eventually taking his defenses, prompting Senpai to admit he wasn't actually her boyfriend. The two girls burst out laughing at the futility of his statement and apologizing to him, admitting he was a very funny guy. Afterwards, Nagatoro has a "nipple-poke game" with Senpai using as a prize a special ticket that would have forced the loser to do anything the winner would have ordered; she won and told him that one day, once he forgotten about it, she would have used the ticket, warning him to be prepared.

The day Nagatoro pierced again her lobe to prevent it for completely heal, she pranked Senpai suggesting to pierce his ear too so they could have a matching pair of earrings, but instead barely poked his ear, asking if he was disappointed that she didn't "made a hole in his body", which he secretly was. Also, he ended up inserting a character with Nagatoro's likeness in his manga and she found out about it. Then, when the students have started to wear the summer uniform, thus allowing the girl to see how skinny Senpai's arms were, she offered to train him. However due to his laziness, Senpai stated that he would have do a training only if it was possible to do it without moving, prompting Nagatoro to order him to get on all four and riding him like a horse for muscle training until two girls passed by the corridor and saw them making her very self-aware, leading her to jump off while Senpai collapsed to the ground.

Sometime later, noticing his hair has gotten too long, Nagatoro proposed to Senpai to cut them like she often did for her brother, however after she exited the art club room to borrow a comb, Yoshi and Gamo-chan entered and, seeing the electric razor that Nagatoro left behind, decide to try shave Senpai, however he opposed to them, shouting that he already promised to Nagatoro he would have his hair cut by her. In that moment she went back, causing her friends to run off, then Nagatoro cut Senpai's hair and they shared a sweet moment as he thanked her.

The following day, after being caught in a storm Nagatoro and Senpai seeks refuge under a gazebo in the park, then after it get worse, the girl asked him if he wanted to stop by at her house, where they clean off, changed clothes, took a cup of tea and enjoyed at afternoon playing video games together. While departing, Senpai admitted that it was fun and Nagatoro told him that they should did it again sometime.

One day, Nagatoro's friends pranked Senpai by making him touch Gamo-chan's breasts and Nagatoro saw it. The girl was utterly mortified but Senpai quickly explained to her that Gamo-chan has actually stuffed anpan under her shirt, causing Nagatoro to cheer up and laugh it off as an hilarious prank. Relieved, the girl offered him to try pinching her upper arm, revealing only after he did it that the upper arm's texture was the same of boobs.

At the beginning of summer, Nagatoro and Senpai went to a place she knew to get some shaved ice, however they discovered a massive crowd of people lined in front of it. The girl stubbornly decided that they would have waited their turn in line, prompting Senpai to protect her twice as from people who ogled at her due to her uniform getting transparent and from getting an heatstroke, eventually he dragged her out of the line to a vending machine and bought her some water to prevent her for getting dehydrated, impressing and deeply moving the girl, who o buy some convenience store ice cream just like Senpai previously told her to do, composed an haiku to celebrate the moment and offered an embarrassed Senpai to feed him.

The day before summer break began, Nagatoro asked Senpai to exchange mail contacts and, when he told her there was nothing special in having his line ID, she sweeten up and tenderly saying that she believed otherwise, leaving him quite moved. Then, after parting ways, she sent him some cat-sticker for being a "pervert" as he was about to drink from the water bottle from which Nagatoro stole him some sips.

The next day, Nagatoro invited Senpai to join her and her friends at the beach for the following afternoon. After arriving, she became quite jealous that the boy briefly ogled her friends more buxom physiques; then, after Gamo-chan proposed to go swim all together, he refused, taking a sketchbook out of his bag to begin drawing. Later, Nagatoro went to him and asked what was going on, prompting him to confess he couldn't swim and had huge fear of getting sunburned.

The girl offered him the 50+ sunscreen, stripped him and said she would rub it on him, embarrassed Senpai replied that that would have been something boyfriend and girlfriend would do, pointing out that they weren't. Feeling irrationally offended by his words, Nagatoro pinned him to the ground and started to rub the lotion on him with her foot in retaliation. However both of her friend soon joined her in giving Senpai said treatment, prompting Nagatoro to stop after using the whole bottle and fully covering him on sunscreen. Then, the whole group ended up having a good time, making another swimming competition together, playing with sand and eating ramen at the beachside. The next morning, she asked Senpai at the phone how did he felt about having come to the beach with them and he admitted that it was actually fun.

As the night of the summer festival came closer, Senpai secretly wanted to invite Nagatoro - even imagining her in a yukata - but, lacking the courage to do it, he convinced himself that she would have probably forced him to go with her as she always did and that he could have accepted it saying it was out of annoyance. However as evening came, he didn't receive any call, disappointed he start to consider he should have the gut to invite her himself, but deemed it pointless since he believed Nagatoro was only interest in bullying him. Senpai ended up going at the festival alone, secretly hoping to meet the girl there. Saddened, after a while he decided to go back home, however he was approached by Gamo-chan and Yoshi, whom correctly guessed why he was there, informed him that she couldn't come to the festival because she had club practice, quickly caught him with a dog collar and forced him to accompany them around the festival, then Gamo-chan sent Nagatoro a picture of all three of them together. The plan set by the girl to made her friend jealous, thus prompting her to came, worked and Nagatoro run from the swimming club's lockers to the temple where Senpai was held "prisoner", lying that she finished earlier and only came there since she was free. Wanting to tease her friend/rival about her feelings for Senpai, Gamo-chan told her that if she wanted to free him she had to defeat them in some games at the festival. Competitive as always, Nagatoro accepted the challenge but not without insisting that she didn't care for Senpai at all.

They began with a shooting game, splitting for a 2 vs 2 team battle in which the winner would have been the pair who managed to get the most decent prizes. Paired in the same team with Senpai, Nagatoro asked him why she was at the festival, to which he lied that he wanted a change of pace, Nagatoro replied asking if he was waiting for her to invite him, making him blush as it was the truth. The girl then pointed out that if there was a place he wanted to go with someone, he had to invite that person himself. After playing some other games, Nagatoro and Senpai managed to win a big Squiddy plush and, knowing Yoshi collected them, Nagatoro gave it to her, thus "bribing" her and winning the contest. Gamo-chan immediately freed Senpai from the collar and left together with Yoshi in order to let the pair enjoy some time alone at the festival. Then, Nagatoro and Senpai decided to wander around the festival together, eating takoyaki and cotton candy, after a while Nagatoro expressed out loud her thought that if felt like being on a date, before quickly correcting herself adding she was just joking. Nagatoro suggested though that she could play pretending and gave him a taste of what dating feel like, so she asked if he wanted to try hold hands, before he could answer the fireworks started causing the girl to getting anxious as she loved their town's fireworks, despite Senpai admitting he only saw them once in primary school.

Since they found the fireworks contest on the beach too crowded, Senpai grab her by the hand to prevent that she was caught between the crowd due to her short stature, and drag her to a spot in the woods from which they had a great view on the fireworks. Feeling uncomfortable for the romantic situation, Nagatoro started teasing Senpai asking what was he thinking bringing a girl on a dark spot like that and calling him a "perverted virgin". Realizing from his past experience that Nagatoro got embarrassed pretty easily herself, Senpai decided to gave her a taste of her own medicine asking her what she meant for "lewd stuff". Too ashamed to answer, Nagatoro started to stutter something regarding embracing and kissing, claiming that anyway there wasn't a chance he could do something like that, causing Senpai to ask her if she believe she could. Despite stating she totally could, after the fireworks lighten the place, showing lot of couples kissing all around them, they both got embarrassed and run away to see the fireworks quietly in a more hidden place.

New semester

The first day of the new semester, while walking home, Senpai spotted Nagatoro under a gazebo in the park chatting with Gamo-chan, Yoshi and another girl he didn't know, Sakura. Watching them from a distance he felt them as very hard to approach and reasoned that they lived in completely different worlds, however when they were approached by a couple of boys who started to hitting on them, he came out from his hiding spot and was greeted by Gamo-chan who ask him to sit with them, giving Senpai enough confidence to propose Nagatoro to walk home with him. The girl accepted and was soon joined by her friends, who then leave the two guys behind; after Senpai asked if it was okay for the girls not staying with them, they told him those two were "annoying" and started to jokingly tease him. All five of them smiled heartily.

The next day, while helping Sakura bringing some boxes to her classroom, Senpai got a splinter inside his finger and the gal offered to yank it off for him, while Gamo-chan and Yoshi immediately dragged him inside their classroom closing the door behind. Passing by the corridor, Nagatoro saw it and eavesdropped from behind the door, misunderstanding that Sakura intended to "jerk off" the boy instead of "yank off" the splinter, became jealous and stormed into the room, angered, only to discover her error. Frustrated yet too prideful to admit it, Nagatoro simply took the tweezers from Sakura and yanked off Senpai's splinter herself as her friends applauded.

Afew days after this, while they were walking home together, Nagatoro challenged Senpai to a game of 'rock, paper, scissors' in which the loser would have to carry the winner's luggage until they reached the following crossroads. After losing the first match a sulking Nagatoro found herself forced to carry Senpai's bag, then, winning the second the boy carried hers and, after she won the third the girl forced him to give her a piggy ride; however while doing it, Senpai's hands started to slip to Nagatoro's upper thigh, causing the girl to jump off and, with minimal explanation, run away with a nervous and terrified expression on her face, while Senpai was left puzzled.

After he made a poor performance at the school marathon, Senpai was approached by Nagatoro, who playfully told him that, as his kōhai, she was embarrassed for him, however when he replied that "all he can do was draw" she was greatly bothered, getting so motivated and angered by his lack of self confidence to begin personally train him. The following day, despite being a weekend, she forced the introverted boy to join her in a marathon training, turning him on due to her attire and causing him to stare at her sweaty and barely covered behind while running their 5Km route, thus he augmented his pace in order to stay in front of Nagatoro and don't risk be accused of perverted thoughts. However, after covering half of the route, Senpai collapsed and asked to stop, causing Nagatoro to insult him to provoke him, going as far as to slap her own butt telling him to try to catch her if he was angry. Senpai reprised the run angrily, causing the girl to smile and sweetly told him to do his best.

Sometime after this, while hanging out in the art class room with him, Nagatoro criticized Senpai for never exiting his comfort zone nor taking some risk, suggesting for example that instead of drinking every day the same standard flavored orange juice, he should try taking the "mystery juice" in the vending machine close to the school, however he noticed that Nagatoro herself has that same orange juice, prompting him to told her she was the same as him regarding taking risks. Sulking, the girl replied that she usually didn't drink that kind of juice, so it was risky enough for her. After taking a few sip, Nagatoro sat back on the sofa while Senpai continue drawing, then he took a sip for his orange juice and placed the bottle on the same stool over which Nagatoro placed hers. The collision made both bottles fall but Senpai was quick to getting them back, however he couldn't recognize anymore which one was his and which Nagatoro's. Noticing the girl was silently watching, and not wanting to be mocked for an accidental indirect kiss, Senpai tried to watch her reaction as he moved his hands from a bottle to the other but Nagatoro had an impassive expression. It was unclear if Nagatoro saw which one was her bottle or was unable to tell it so, feeling thirsty, he decided to take the risk drinking from one of them. Seeing this, the girl blushed and, without saying anything, drank from the other bottle. Whether or not they did indirectly kiss was left ambiguous.

After the school cafeteria where Nagatoro and her friends usually chat was invaded by a video game group of boys they deemed as "loud and annoying," the girls decide to hang out in the art club room instead and, after they explained the situation to Senpai, complaining on how all men are driven primarily by their sexual desires, Gamo-chan teased Nagatoro stating that Senpai instead doesn't have any libido, prompting the girl to made a bet with her friend that if she find a lewd book hidden in the room by him she would have proved he was actually a quiet pervert. Nagatoro turned the room upside down, Senpai yelled he's not hiding anything, to which both Yoshi and Gamo-chan agreed despite Nagatoro stating that he was losing his cool since she was about to find his porn. After a while he began to feel bad about Nagatoro losing the bet since she was, in a certain way, doing it for him and taking advantage of a moment of distraction from the girls, he sneaked inside the prep room, where he hid Yagamirin Tarou's "Paradise Harem", took it and allow Nagatoro to find it. The girl was overjoyed and started to playfully tease him, while her friends watched the scene perplexed.

One day, Nagatoro noticed Senpai is having a bento and he explained it was due to not having lots of money that month, however, seeing how messed up it is, she began to make fun of him. That evening, Nagatoro prepare an homemade bento with the intention to share it with him the next day and confide it to Gamo-chan; however her plan backfired since, feeling offended for her comments the previous day, Senpai has prepared an exceptionally well-made bento in order to teach Nagatoro a lesson. Slightly upset by this, even after both of her friends exchanged a piece of their lunch with a bite of Senpai's bento, explaining her how amazingly good it was, Nagatoro pridefully refused to do it as well and started to eat her bento. Wanting to help her friend, Gamo-chan suggested Senpai to swap a dish with Nagatoro, yet they are both too stubborn to ask for the swap. In order to resolve the stalemate, Gamo-chan revealed that she was surprised he made chicken that spicy as he wasn't good with spicy food while Nagatoro loved it, prompting the boy to admit it was actually too spicy for him, this granted Nagatoro the chance to ask for a swap making it seem like she was doing a favor to him; she gave Senpai the homemade dish she knew was his favorite (despite it contained spicy mustard too) while Nagatoro ate Senpai's chicken and has a "foodgasm" just like her friends had.

After Sakura began getting stalked by one of the many boys who compete for her attention, she asked Senpai to pretend to be her boyfriend in order to discourage him. Jealous, Nagatoro tried to convince her friend to change her mind, calling Senpai "dangerous as a vermin", but she was ignored and caused the opposite effect convincing Senpai to play along with the gal's plan. The following day, being Saturday, Senpai and Sakura went on their fake date while Nagatoro, Gamo-chan and Yoshi followed them recording everything with their smartphones. Gamo-chan teased Nagatoro saying it was like an anime plot when "two people went on a fake date but real feeling start to blossom" thus getting her friend frustrated despite firmly refusing to admit it. Before Senpai and Sakura could get too close, Nagatoro captured the stalker and forced him to promise that he would never do it again. Having put an end to the charade, the girl began to mock Senpai for ruining "his first date" by telling him that it was probably too soon for him to do such things, however he smiled and agreed.

While they were all on the art club room, Nagatoro told Gamo-chan and Yoshi how she scared Senpai with the idea of repeat one year and be in their same class, thus making him frantically study to pass the exam. Amused the three girls started to toy with the idea of what would they do if he failed the grade two times thus making them "his senpais". However, as the boy started to fear the three girls would have enslaved him if that ever happened, Sakura reassured Senpai that it won't happen because other than Nagatoro both she and the other two girls will have to take supplementary lessons due to their low academic results. Embarrassed, both Gamo-chan and Yoshi asked Senpai to tutor them, making Nagatoro jealous.

Culture Festival

After he was dumped by a guy to which he has asked to model for his exhibition at the school's Culture Festival, Nagatoro overheard it and proposed him to be his model instead, if he begged her. Nagatoro's intention to be prayed, however, faded as the boy refused the offer since he considered too hard to draw the female figure, especially hers. Due to the girl insistence, Senpai eventually decided to tell her he would have used her as a model only if she posed cosplaying in her infamous Nekotoro version, sure that she would have refused. The following week, much to his surprise, an utterly ashamed Nagatoro shown herself into the art club room wearing a perfect Nekotoro costume that she asked the handicrafts club to made her and insisted for him to say something getting really mad when he simply complimented how the outfit was well made.

Later, while posing for him, Nagatoro teases Senpai on making her look sexy while her friends laughed at his embarrassment. Then, the girls started to chat regarding what they planned to do with their clubs or class for the Cultural Festival and, when Nagatoro asked to Senpai what would be the art club exhibition he stared into space and began remembering the previous year; then, after Nagatoro woke him up from his memories, he answered that he would probably make an art display, causing the girls to said it would be boring and that they would give him an hand to fire it put a little.

Nagatoro ironically suggested it would be fun to have games in which torturing him or a kitty-themed maid café while Sakura suggested a cross-dressing café featuring Senpai dressed like a female maid, which a secretly amused Nagatoro refused, fearing the boy could get too much attentions. In that exact moment, Senpai heard some familiar footsteps and asked the girls to hid in the prep room right before the President entered with a stern expression. While the President scolded Senpai for some rumors she heard about the club room having become a hangout for a bunch good-for-nothing, telling him was disappointed for him inviting people and being rowdy, she informed him that she was thinking about disbanding the club leaving him unable to reply. Then Nagatoro came out of the prep room with her friends and face the girl herself accusing her of being selfish and unreasonable as she was the one who abandoned the club.

The President dismissed said accuse stating that if the only club member lacked motivation there were no reason for the club to continue, thus angering Nagatoro who finally lashed out making her feelings for Senpai transparent, yelling that even by himself, he has always worked really damn hard on his art. Hearing this, the President suggested that Senpai held his own art display independently from the club and, if he defeated hers in the school's popularity contest she would have rescinded the club's disbandment. Although Senpai was not very confident about it, Nagatoro immediately accepted the challenge in his stead.

After the President left Nagatoro started to do a mocking impression of her with her friends, prompting Senpai to stop them saying that they were the ones at fault and that they had zero chances of victory against her. To cheer him up the four girls all offered to lend him an hand, suggesting to make his display a "kitty-kitty cosplay art café", but Senpai began praising the President's talent telling them of the many awards she won and that the previous year the art club display ranked 6th in the popularity contest on over 50-60 exhibits. Hearing this all four of the girls realized Senpai has quite a crush for the President, much to Nagatoro dismay; however after Gamo-chan asked how could it be that an high schooler's painting ranked that high in a popularity contest Senpai shown them the President's picture that gathered so much attention: a nude self-portrait. The shocked girls all realized how it could have been that popular, prompting Nagatoro to said it was a lewd pornographic painting and asking Senpai what it was his opinion, getting really mad when he answered he thought it was amazing explaining the several reason why he believed it. Gamo-chan told everything the boy has to do was painting something equally amazing, to which Nagatoro replied she would have modeled for him, even wearing a swimsuit if he really begged her. Senpai replied that he wasn't confident enough to being able to match the President's talent, while Gamo-chan pointed out he was actually already losing a lot in term of "material of work", referring the President's massive boobs compared with Nagatoro's petite chest.

Nagatoro sulked at Gamo-chan for having dissed her, despite the latter explaining it wasn't her intention since she only meant a big-breasted model usually gathered a bigger crowd, also she told her that being a little cute is nothing compared to a body like the President's, however Senpai claimed that both Nagatoro and the President are charming in their own way, finally prompting Gamo-chan to apologize to her friend. Heartened, the girl asked Senpai how she preferred to paint her, however he told her that he didn't want to use her as his model since if he dragged her into that match and lose it would be embarrassing for her. Offended, Nagatoro stormed off the room, soon followed by her friends, all of whom lightly scolded him for hurting Nagatoro's feelings. The next day, Senpai went to the art club room in order to work on his painting, discovering that the President split the room into two sections in order to work on her exhibit. While he was doing a still life, the President approached him, wearing just a towel since she was doing another nude self-portrait, and told him it was a boring job since in order to be art a painting had to have love in it. Nagatoro entered the room to visit Senpai and, seeing the President half-naked with him, run away deeply saddened. The President ordered Senpai to chase her, saying that was also what art was about; which he immediately does. Senpai chased after Nagatoro but was unsure regarding what to tell her and how, so he stayed silent when he caught up to her. A pair of her classmates approached them and Nagatoro told them that he was a stalker and ran off again. Senpai chased after her again, reaching the Pool, but was trapped by the door to the changing room being locked. As he confronted her again, she climbed a nearby tree in order not to listen to Senpai, causing him to yell at her from below, begging her to be his model. Blushing, yet remaining mad, Nagatoro told him that he can ask the President to be his model and paint another nude like she likes, but her foot slipped from the branch and she fell from the tree right on top of him, since he tried to catch her.

Quickly awakening from the impact, Senpai told her he didn't want to draw the President but her. Nagatoro, pleased but determined to keep the tough façade, asked him why, and he finally admitted that Nagatoro was the most stimulating person he knows. In the moment the two classmate of Nagatoro they previously run into passed by and, seeing them one on top of the other, giggled, making them both embarrassed. Over the next days, Senpai started doing some sketches of Nagatoro, causing her to mock him for how fishy it looked; although she often asked him if it isn't better to do something more daring even going as far as joking about fighting lewd with lewd and thus taking her clothes off, he answered her that he wanted to try creating a slice-of-life on Nagatoro.

Walking home that afternoon, Nagatoro admitted she didn't understand the sense of his slice-of-life work, to which Senpai answered it's show "how cute she was". Realizing what he had said, the boy blushed as vividly as Nagatoro then, to make the tension disappear, she started to tease him over the term he used.

After he shows his painting of Nagatoro's slice-of-life to Yoshi, Sakura and Gamo-chan, they were all impressed by them and the latter told him is like he looked at her as a lover, embarrassing both Nagatoro and Senpai. Then, Gamo-chan suggested to sneak a peek at the President's work, convincing all the gang to do it except for Senpai; however after seeing it the girls came back shocked and carrying Nagatoro, who had fainted. Thus, Gamo-chan and Sakura planned to be "cunning" as the President and began to make a plan to fight back against her new work and, although Senpai claimed they didn't needed to do anything weird as it was a problem between Nagatoro and him, the girls thrown him out of the room telling they would do their best to ready her up. Later, as the only members of the art club, Senpai and the President were both asked to help decorate the panels for the entrance of the Cultural Festival, as the organizing committe had been short-handed. As the pair was walking back to the Art Club Room, they talked about how their respective submission was coming along and the President said she won't hold back. Then, passing by the corridor they listen some voices of Nagatoro and her friends inside the art room and the President told him he mustn't eavesdrop on them and that regardless what they were planning the match was between the two of them, despite Senpai believed it doesn't seemed like that anymore. Right at that moment, a group of girls looked inside the room where Nagatoro and her friends were working on their plan, and started to rave about "Toro-Cat" and some related straps, puzzling Senpai. He then notices a strap on the President's bag, asking her about it. It prompted her to tell him it was very popular in her class in that period, prior to showing him it was actually a caricature of Nagatoro in her cat costume.

The day of the Cultural Festival, while the President has no problem in talking smoothly in front of the cameras when the school journal interview her, Senpai on the other hand felt uneasy and stammered, however right before the troupe finished their service, the girls entered Senpai's display and Nagatoro performed said dance, prompting people who have seen the video they have uploaded on YouTube to began gathering all around the display to be willingly bullied by the co-called "Toro-Cat". A boy complimented the paintings and asked her out, making Senpai jealous, then, although she seemed not interest as always, under her friends pressures she started to act with the boy like she always do with Senpai, causing more and more people to came in order to be treated in the same way. As the hours passed, lots of people also went to see the President's new nude self-portrait, however Senpai's exhibition seemed to gathered more interest. At 12:10 Gamo-chan made Senpai and Nagatoro to go get some food so that they can spent some time together. When Nagatoro tries to make an excuse saying she couldn't just leave the exhibition as she was sulking at Senpai, Gamo-chan replied that Yoshi and Sakura, who were still in the cat mascot costumes, could work harder to fill the void, only to have Sakura agree with her, standing behind Gamo-chan while enjoying a frozen dipped Banana. Gamo-chan and Yoshhi turned to find one of the video game club members, in fact, the one who had stalked her earlier, in the costume, filling in for her while she took a break. While going to get food with Senpai, Nagatoro tried to act cool and asked him if he wasn't happy for having girls fawning over him, however she ultimately couldn't continue the charade showing how mad she really was for it.

Senpai told her that all the compliments he received were thanks to her for being his model, making her blush, smile again and sweeten up despite her attempts to stay mad at him. She then asked him to treat her to something to eat if he really was thankful, joking about buying 100 takoyaki and 100 yakisoba to bring them home and freeze them so to have them everyday. The two shared a meal cheerfully and then returned to the exhibition, discovering that the President's display had been shut down by the student council as they has given her permission only depending on what they would have seen on the actual day. While the President is escorted away due to her painting being deemed as "too immoral for a school" by the student council, Nagatoro and Gamo-chan forced her to admit they have won the match as she lose due to disqualification and, after exulting, in order to further humiliate her the girls forced the President to wear a skimpy bunny suit and sell their straps all over the school. After having the straps sell out, the girls allowed her to go and she went back to Senpai's exposition, where the boy suggested her to take off the bunny costume before risking other trouble with the student council. Nagatoro entered right at the moment in which the shameless girl was about to strip in front of Senpai, preventing her from doing it and prompting her to lie that she was just joking.

Then looking at Senpai's paintings of Nagatoro, the President told him that there was "love" in it, thus making both Nagatoro and Senpai blush. Then she smiled and tore the disbandment form into pieces overjoying the two. In that moment the speaker announced that the live concert would have been started at 4pm and Nagatoro told Senpai she was there for that, indirectly asking him if he wanted to go with her; he accepted and was immediately dragged to the auditorium.

The following day, after they met on the street, Senpai confessed to Nagatoro that he didn't knew how to approach her and say "hello", thus she offered to give him a lecture about how approaching people. However her various pattern of greetings consisted in painful pats on the neck, tripping, pricking and even kicking until, finally, she hugged him from behind. Feeling Nagatoro's boobs against his beck and her breath on his neck Senpai got quite embarrassed, while the girl licked her lips and told him to do the same with her or she would spread to school the rumor that she hugged him and he got an erection. Later, while they have reprised to walk quietly, a distracted Senpai stumbled and hugged her, groping her right breast in the process. Blushing, Nagatoro hit him powerfully and made him fall against Gamo-chan and Yoshi who were coming from the alley in that moment and greeted themselves normally, proving every form of greetings illustrated by Nagatoro were lies.

Sometimes later, Nagatoro and her friends invited Senpai to an all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant to celebrate the end of the Culture Festival, Senpai's victory in the art exhibition against the President, and their success in selling out their Toro-Cat phone straps. After all of her friends offered Senpai special recipe that they composed or improvised, feeling jealous, Nagatoro tried to make her own special dish, overdoing it and taking half of the roe for a tarako gunkan and placing in it half of the milt from a shirako gunkan to create, in her words: "a miraculous meeting between roe and milt that could get someone's stomach pregnant". This shocked the whole gang, prompting even Yoshi to describe it as "disgusting". While her friends scolded Nagatoro for playing with food like that, however, feeling bad for her Senpai decided to try it, finding it surprisingly "delicious".

A few days after the end of the Culture Festival, the President finds Senpai seemingly having problems getting in the mood to do a good painting, and gives him two tickets to the zoo so he could sketch while in the outdoors, ordering him to try invite the one she called the "cat-ear girl", since if an outsider like her kept barging into the club she should at least draw something every now and then. Right as the President exited the room, Nagatoro approached it and, peering inside, saw him with the tickets, getting quite excited but then feigning indifference and entering the room to sat on the sofa. Initially too nervous about the idea of ​​inviting the girl and going at the zoo with her, Senpai remained in silence then, reminding Nagatoro's words at the summer festival, he took courage and asked her if she liked animals and after she answered she did he asked her if she likes to draw, to which Nagatoro replied she only did it in class. Senpai thought about saying she could teach her, however he dismissed that idea believing it would have sound too pushy, however it was the girl herself admitting she was a terrible artist and would like for him to teach her. Finally he managed to ask her if she wanted to go at the zoo with him the following Sunday, which the girl accept smiling heartily. On that weekend they met at the zoo as programmed, although Nagatoro realized only then that it was for sketching. At the zoo, the girl's attention was absorbed by Koujirou-kun the red panda and, after he finally stood up, she tried to call Senpai, pouting after noticing he was too absorbed by his sketches to enjoy their "date". The boy immediately apologized guessing she was getting bored and told her they can simply walk around if she preferred it, however Nagatoro replied that she was fine and would play along with it, asking him to "take her hand and teach her everything" in return. Despite some initial embarrassment and the girl teasing him all the time, Senpai accepted and, taking Nagatoro by the hand, show her how to drew the general outline of a subject.

The pair spent the afternoon drawing various animals and, although Senpai doesn't notice, the girl actually looked him with a sweet expression every now and then. Later, they relaxed at the concession stand, looking over their respective sketches, Nagatoro felt like hers were quite bad, however, Senpai reassured her that they were actually good for a beginner, yet, noticing Senpai's drawing were almost alive, she asked him what was her secret to which he replied is simply having an interest or liking what you draw (in order not to said "love"). Thinking about all the times he drew her, Nagatoro smiled. Then, while the girl was on the restroom, Senpai was approached by a schoolmate and his girlfriend; they recognize the boy and immediately started to mock him for drawing at the zoo. Senpai endured everything in silence as always until they criticized Nagatoro's drawing, then he lost his temper and yelled them both not to dare make fun of other people's hard work. Right at that moment Nagatoro came back and scolded the two for criticizing her drawing and harassing Senpai, making them apologize out of fear and then leaving. Senpai thanked Nagatoro for saving him and she jokingly mocked his weakness thus making him admitting that it was really pathetic of him being bailed out by a kōhai. However, having actually seen him yell at the two in her defense and being deeply impressed by it, Nagatoro smiled, replying that level was just about right for him. As it was getting late, Senpai proposed Nagatoro to draw her favorite animal as their last one.

She chose the cage with the sloth and, as they began drawing she positioned way behind the boy, then, after they finished the girl revealed that she was actually drawing him: a "five-toed sloth, so slothful and weak that risk extinction and with such a weak presence that can rarely be noticed". Although annoyed, he noticed it was actually very well drawn and realistic, blushing a little while remembering that the secret of drawing is "love". Seeing him staring silently into the void, Nagatoro asked Senpai what he was looking at and, as he refused to answer, she started to tease him again.

Coming of winter

One day of the following week, Senpai was chatting in the cafeteria with Nagatoro and her friends about a group of boys from session 1-A having been suspended for drinking alcohol at the party after the Culture Festival. Although the girls criticized those boys for having been "stupid and cocky," Gamo-Chan accused Senpai of thinking they were habitual alcohol drinkers too, he hadn't expressed it out loud but they guessed it and scolded him for being rude. Then Nagatoro imagined what Senpai would look like drinking in a not so far off future, resulting in the group's hilarity. To cheer him up Nagatoro told him she would have brought him to a nice grown-up bar to drink together when they became adults, yet Senpai claimed he didn't plan to drink alcohol ever as he didn't understand what was so fun in staggering around drunk.

The following day, Nagatoro transformed the art club room into a bar-like setting and insisted that Senpai place a drink order, until he told her to give him what she recommended out of annoyance. The girl then made a Bloody Mary leaving out the vodka. The boy commented that is then just tomato juice, to which she told him to just drink it and, as he did it, he found it really good, then Nagatoro sat with him and told him to enjoy their "adult drink." However, after a few sips, she started to slur her words, becoming drunk from the whisky bonbons chocolate she was eating as snacks. This made him smile, reflecting on the possibility that maybe when they grew up, drinking together could be fun.

After the weather started to get cooler, Nagatoro bought a pair of black tights to keep her legs warm and, after Senpai let out a sigh commenting that it can't be helped, realizing only afterward that he talked his thoughts out loud, she asked him to put the tights on her in order to prove he is not "obsessed with her bare legs". To further embarrass him, Nagatoro asked Senpai to do it smoothly, causing him to start imagining he was putting a large daikon radish into a plastic bag with a smooth motion in order not to blush too much; doing so, despite noting Nagatoro's legs were way smoother, softer, firmer and suppler than a radish, he managed to ascend from Nagatoro's foot to her calf right up to her thigh, however as he got closer to her inner thigh and thus her groin Nagatoro freaked out and told him that was enough, proceeding in putting on the rest herself with the excuse that his hands were "way too lewd". After she finished putting on her tights Nagatoro asked Senpai how do she looked and, when he complimented her, she asked if he had a fetish for it.

After discovering Senpai with the first volume of a shoujo manga she also read (whose plot mirrored that of their story), Nagatoro admitted that she felt a connection to the female protagonist and found hilarious how she reduced the male lead to tears, yet when Senpai claimed that what was depicted in the manga was nothing compared to what "a certain someone" does to him, Nagatoro felt offended and shows him some rows from the following chapters in order to prove she was not as mean as the female lead.

Senpai was shocked as she showed him, in one of the most recent chapters published online, the heroine forced the male protagonist to lick her loafer after he accidentally spilled water on it, Nagatoro joked on doing the same if he ever spilled water on hers. However while she messed around, She spilled some water from the boittle she was drinking from, getting it on her shoe. To her shock, Senpai bent down and, as the girl blushed and became nervous over the idea of him actually licking her foot, wiped it clean it with an handkerchief. Later, walking home on a cold day, they decided to eat ice-cream inside a warm place, however, he got a little aroused for seeing her lick it and she noticed how he was staring at her. Nagatoro messed with him by first proposing a bite of her cone and then asking one of his to make him admit he was worried for the possible indirect kiss, however while doing this, she stumbled and, although Senpai managed to catch her before she fell to the ground, in the heat of the gesture their ice-cream toppings come into contact, mixing an thus causing them to sat back and proceed licking their ice-creams, very much aware that it's an indirect kiss.

As the school wide marathon approached, Senpai trained harder in order not to perform badly in front of Nagatoro, however during said training, he twisted his ankle a little. The following day while running, he was soon approached by Nagatoro, Gamo-chan, Yoshi and Sakura who proposed him a race. He tried to refuse saying he'd rather run at his own pace but the group try to persuade him telling that it could be like in the fable of "The Tortoise and the Hare", thus they won't let their guard down, to which he joke that they're more like cats than hares. Right at that time they saw the President overrun them all dressed in her bunny suit since cosplaying was allowed. Thus, the girls get motivated into "beating the hare" and, after Senpai wished them good luck as the President was one of her class top athlete, Nagatoro reminded him that is the tortoise who should beat the hare, thus meaning he was the one who must race her. Although he was skeptical, the girls supported him, saying they would pour their power onto him, forming a line to push one another in order to boost his speed, however after arriving at a crosswalk Nagatoro and Senpai were separated from the other girls due to a traffic light. Gamo-chan, Yoshi and Sakura told them that they should keep going and would definitely catch up with them. Nagatoro and Senpai proceed noticing that they should be around the halfway point. The girl noticed and complimented how much Senpai had trained for the race, though not without mocking his style of run. Suddenly, Senpai suffered an ankle sprain and explained to a worried Nagatoro that he twisted it the previous day while running, prompting her to take him under her arm in order not to let him behind, saying they would have kept going until they reach the school. Nagatoro compared their situation to a war movie scene where two soldiers get separated from their unit, one of them is wounded and the other refuses to leave him, saying they would go home together.

Smiling, Senpai noticed how kind Nagatoro could be despite always messing with him, describing her as a mystery. After a while, though, the pain from the anke was getting worse. Noticing how much in pain Senpai really is, she asked him to get on her back. Embarrassed by her gesture, Senpai told her that she didn't need to feel responsible for his ankle, to which she replied that they'll go faster that way stating that she would be able to carry him with ease, managing to convince him. Despite feeling a little guilty for riding a girl's back, Senpai described Nagatoro as amazing for managing to carry him with such a small body.

Despite her assurances, he noticed that she was struggling and asked her to stop, stating he doesn't want to go on if there's even a chance that she might get hurt. As Nagatoro blushed, Gamo-chan and the other girls finally reached them, complimenting his wish to protect Nagatoro, and, together with Yoshi and Sakura, begin carrying Senpai in a sort of human cart quoting that "a tortoise might be slow, but if you give it a booster, then it can fly". Racing all together in said formation, they managed to reach the President however, as she was still faster than them, Gamo-chan told Yoshhi to run in front of them using her almost superhuman speed to draft off her and increase their speed, narrowly managing to beat the President, but the group was disqualified by the teachers because of their formation.

Sometime after this, after having taken a nap in the art class room, Nagatoro received a text from Sakura and went to join her friends in order to have a "dazzling girl talk", however while exiting the room she accidentally left her smartphone behind, prompting Senpai to go looking for her to return it. Once he reached the first year's floor, Senpai realized he didn't knew what section Nagatoro is in, however a girl helped him asking who he was looking for and, due to not knowing her by surname, what was her first name. Embarrassed Senpai admitted to himself that he didn't knew, then however he remembered that her friends called her "Hayacchi", causing the girl to realize who she is and told him to look for her in section C. Along the way, Senpai saw Gamo-chan and Yoshi coming out of their class and went to the cafeteria for lunch. Not wanting to be caught, the boy hid in a closet inside section C, just in time for Sakura and Nagatoro to return in it alongside two classmates and starting to talk about one of them having recently started dating someone in the baseball club. The conversation quickly switch over what types of boys each of them are into, and when they urged the reluctant Nagatoro to answer said question too, she answered that her type of boy is simply "someone who's fun to be with". Eavesdropping that, Senpai suddenly remember of all the fun times he and Nagatoro shared and remained speechless. Just then, Nagatoro noticed her smartphone was missing and Sakura suggested she probably left it in "the club room", causing their classmates to ask if the reason she attended that place so much lately was a boy; both Nagatoro and Senpai blushed and the latter panicked, causing a noise that drew the girl's attention to the closet. When Nagatoro went to investigate. she found Senpai inside and, despite at first being visibly mad at him, she invented an excuse to distract Sakura and her classmates, dragging Senpai out of her class. Despite mocking him for how creepy he was hiding in the closet, she sweetly thanked him for bringing her the smartphone and then asked if he heard what she said. Ashamed, Senpai replied he had no idea what she was talking about and ran off, leaving her red faced.

Two days after this, Senpai became worried of having offended Nagatoro because had not stopped by the club room and hadn't texted him either for some time. The boy went asking Yoshi and Gamo-chan about it, prompting the latter to reveal him that she caught a cold but had recovered pretty quickly and would return to school the following day; then Gamo-chan asked Senpai if he knew where Nagatoro lived and when he replied affirmatively, ask him to visit her and bring her some of her homework in her place. That afternoon, Senpai went to Nagatoro's house and was looking to see if Nagatoro was home, when he was approached by a young woman who, after mistaking him for a thief, introduced herself as Nagatoro's sister and invited him inside, offering him some snacks and revealing him that her little sister talked a lot about him. She also asked if there's anything he wanted to know about her, stating that she would reveal him whatever he want regarding her sister. Before Senpai could make his question, Nagatoro entered the kitchen yawning, with messy hair and a comfy pj, blushing in embarrassment after discovering that he was there.

Embarrassed, Nagatoro immediately went to dress and do her hair, scolding Senpai for not having called nor warned her before coming to her house. He told her that he sent her a text, although she yelled back at him that she was sleeping. Then Nagatoro's sister prepared her a special marlowe pudding with fruit and cream to calm her down, saying that they should all sit and chat a little. However feeling ashamed, Nagatoro asked Senpai to came to her room and forbid her sister from entering. While in her room, Nagatoro blushed a little and thanked Senpai for coming to visit her, to which the embarrassed boy replied he simply wanted to bring her the printouts Gamo-chan gave him. Then, they started eating pudding and, at some point, the girl teased him by offering to feed him. Due to being alone with her, Senpai decided to play along with it and opened his mouth, right in that moment Nagatoro's sister enter and caught them in said compromising position commenting the boy does indeed seem interested in "every little detail" of her little sister. Blushing vividly, Nagatoro sent her sister out of her room and then asked Senpai what does she meant by her last sentence.

After Nagatoro's sister's statement an awkward silence descended on Senpai and Nagatoro, prompting the boy to trying to leave right after finishing his pudding, however Nagatoro prevented him from doing it asking him to play a match with the video game they played the last time he was at her home. While playing the game, Senpai noticed that Nagatoro have probably practiced with it, since she has gotten better. Then, the girl asked him what did he talked about with her sister, worried that he asked her about her secrets while she was sleeping, however he quickly reassured that he wouldn't have poked his nose into someone elses business without asking. Hearing this, after winning a match, Nagatoro offered to reveal him one of her secrets of his choice if he managed to defeat her. At first Senpai pretended not to be interested, slightly offending Nagatoro, then he accepted said offer saying he was simply "taking her up on that". After the match started, Nagatoro playfully teased him asking if the secret he wanted to know was her measurements or something "even lewder", to which Senpai replied he would have liked to know her first name, leaving her speechless.

A bit embarrassed after realizing that she never told her name to Senpai, Nagatoro blushed but then tried to act nonchalantly, saying that she didn't mind to tell it to him but provocatively asking him why he wanted to know it. The boy lied telling her that it was simply because it would be easier to call her, to which she replied that how she called her didn't really mattered, however, while they were talking the game's time runs out resulting in Nagatoro's loss. The girl played it coolly - despite being visibly happy of the circumstances - and, using their previous bet as an excuse, get ready to tell her name to Senpai; however the boy he stopped her at the last minute saying that he didn't want to know her name due to having won a game but rather after finding the courage to asking it to her directly. Both Nagatoro and Senpai blushed and agreed on waiting for that day to come. Right at that moment, Nagatoro's sister stormed into the room calling her "Hayase" and bringing the photo album of her primary school years in order to show it to Senpai. Regardless of Nagatoro yelling her to getting out of her room, her sister continued to show embarrassing pictures of "little Hayase" to Senpai. That evening, after they said goodbye to one another, Nagatoro told Senpai that she would be back to school the following day and suggested him to "prepare himself", causing the boy to smile heartily, as he said her name to himself.

At first it's awkward to both of them and the boy has difficulties in deciding whether to calling her Hayase or not; then however the girl start pulling him by the sleeve, showing on her smartphone that is at the first place on a ranking of moves girls can do to instantly excite men. Senpai stated that it didn't excite him at all, prompting the girl to sulk and try repeatedly. Annoyed, the boy decided to grab Nagatoro's sleeve to prevent her from keep going, but he didn't get the timing right, ending up to grab her hand instead. Right at that moment Gamo-chan, Yoshi and Sakura appeared, commenting on how bold they were for holding hands in public. Embarrassed, Nagatoro quickly tried to deny that they were holding hands, saying to her friends that she was merely trying a judo move on him, without sounding believable to anyone.

A few days later, Senpai came down with the flu, taking a day off from school. Although his mother had an important business trip that day and offered to cancel it, he told her not to worry as it was "nothing serious" and convinced her to go on, preferring to remain at home alone. In the afternoon, Nagatoro called him wondering why he wasn't at the art club and, after discovering he caught the flu and was all by himself, she felt deeply sorry for him. As soon as she hung up she headed to his home, determined to check on him. She reached his home and - despite firmly denying being worried for him - became very protective once she came inside. As his cough worsened, she immediately put him to bed, taking his temperature by using her own forehead. Feeling his fever, she placed a cool, wet towel over his head and stayed at his side nursing him the whole afternoon, letting her sister know where she was. After finding out his mother would not be home from her business trip until late in the evening, she decided to cook him some porridge since he hadn't eaten much since the morning. As she fed him, Senpai started to hallucinate, thinking that he was married to Nagatoro. His mind wavered between reality and his hallucination, He told her he was grateful for her taking care of him and said to her, "Thank you, Hayase."

Then he collapsed and fell asleep while Nagatoro, nervous and deep down, very pleased for what he said, got carried away by the situation and, after daring him to do it again, unsure if he really was unconscious, asked if she could give him a kiss, leaning in closely. However, as she was about to kiss him for the second time in their time together, his mother came back home, leading the embarrassed Nagatoro to leave the home with minimal explanation.

The following morning, Senpai felt better and woke up asking why he had such a weird dream, then his mother asked him who was the "adorable girl" who took care of him the previous day and if she was his girlfriend, leading the boy to blush and reply that she was simply a kōhai of his. Later, while walking to school, Senpai realized that it wasn't a dream and Nagatoro really came to his house and took care of him while he was sick. After they meet along the way there was a moment of mutual embarrassment, then he thanked her for what she did and Nagatoro replied it was nothing since he did the same for her, right before starting to kick him as a "punishment" for "having been so cocky" for using her first name.

Days later, struggling to find inspiration, Senpai asked Nagatoro to be his model. At first, she pretended to be busy in order to get him to beg her, but in the end she accepted and asked him what pose he wanted her to take, leading him to tell her to assume the one in which she felt "more natural". Hearing so, Nagatoro assumed a series of stance from muay thai, boxing, capoeira and a fourth one that she assumed without thinking but seemingly made her uncomfortable. After seeing the latter, Senpai deemed it as the one on which she was "more natural" and asked her to pose in that stance, which the girl eventually accept blushing a little. While the painting was being done, Senpai and Nagatoro exchanged several glances, the first asking himself what kind of stance was that while the latter staring at him with sweetness. After finishing it, Senpai asked Nagatoro about the stance, leading the embarrassed girl to lock him in a submission move stating it was her own personal martial art style in a clear attempt not to answer him. Right in that moment Yoshi, Sakura and Gamo-chan entered the room and, while the first two simply told playfully Senpai to surrender in order to get freed from Nagatoro's move, seeing the painting Gamo-chan got quite emotional, saying heartwhelmingly to Nagatoro that "it has been a while since the last time" and asking with evident nostalgia if she wanted to give it another try. Senpai asked what they were talking about, but Nagatoro stormed out of the room saying she won't tell him.

That afternoon, while going back to home, Senpai noticed that Nagatoro seemed a little down, and she confirmed that the "cold, windy winter days disturbed her heart". Seeing Nagatoro depressed made him feel weird too. At first, Senpai imagined what would he have done if he was confident and handsome to cheer her up by talking with her smoothly, then he noticed a restaurant specialized in wagyu and croquette, finding the courage to invite her and treat her to a meal. Despite his fear that the girl would have asked for something expensive, Nagatoro simply took a special croquette, which she describe as "super juicy" and, while walking home, in order to tease the boy as well as prove him it was better than the regular one he took, dared him to take a bite from hers. Senpai ultimately choose to simply grab a piece with his fingers and ate it, resulting in Nagatoro making fun of him anyway telling him that, differently from that time in which they took ice cream together, it wouldn't have been an indirect kiss. Then she took a bite from his croquette nonchalantly. Later, while almost home, Senpai finally asked her if there was something that worried her, prompting Nagatoro to admit she was feeling a little down due to not knowing what to write on her future plan survey form, so she was planning to leaving it white. Senpai told her that it won't be good, however later that night he found himself thinking that he was in Nagatoro's same predicament.

A few nights later, Senpai had a dream about being on a date with Nagatoro on Christmas and giving her a present, to which he woke up shocked due to having actually bought a present for her. The following morning, being Christmas Eve, right after the principal speech to the students, they all get ready to go back home and Nagatoro approached the boy asking him if he would be alone on Christmas, before he could gave her either an answer or her present, the girl's friends interrupted them and dragged them both into the library, where an argument had ensue: Gamo-chan was planning to invite everyone at the karaoke and is upset because Sakura and Rabi-chan had other plans with boys; thus leaving only Yoshi and Nekoba to join her. As a fight ensue between the "girls with boys" and the "girls without boys" and they start bickering, Senpai noticed that Nagatoro had a present in her bag too, and in turn she noticed his, leading them to exchange an embarrassed glance. After a few minutes Gamo-chan asked Nagatoro if she would have came to the karaoke, leading Nekoba to ask her if she and Senpai were dating or not, which caused both of them to blush.

Out of embarrassment, Nagatoro quickly denied it saying she simply like to toy with the boy, thus Gamo-chan told both her and the boy to join them at the karaoke, however Senpai refused, making up an excuse in order to remain alone with Nagatoro, saying he had to pick up something in the art club room. Picking up on what he was doing, Nagatoro seized the opportunity and quickly joined him copying his excuse and dragging him out of the room saying she'd meet up with the gang later. Once in the art club room, Senpai and Nagatoro pretend to take some objects to fuel their mutual lie while try to find the right words to exchange their respective gifts; however before they can do it, the President entered from the prep room, completely naked, as she wanted to "feel its atmosphere on her skin" one last time before her graduation. Nagatoro called her a "horny bunny," the President asked if they were on a tryst, causing both of them to blush and storm out of the room right as the school's broadcast informed the students to leave the institute as quickly as possible. In order not to be caught by professor Yamaguchi - who's very strict about the rules - the duo hid in the nurse's office. Once again they tried to exchange their gifts, but at the last minute freaked out due to hearing Sakura making out with her date on one of the bed. Having managed to sneak away remaining unnoticed by the two lovers, Senpai and Nagatoro went to the rooftop hoping to get some privacy, only to find out dozen of other couples on it watching the sunset. Downcast by all those setbacks, the two decided to simply go home, however, after seeing Nagatoro shiver, Senpai found the courage to give her his Christmas gift, which is revealed to be a muffler. Overjoyed, the girl gave him her own gift in return: a scarf. Later, while they walk back home, Nagatoro jumped happily and joked on the fact that they got the same gift to each other.

New Year

On New Year's Eve, while looking the traditional TV special with his parents, the boy received a phone call from Nagatoro, who asked him if he planned on going on the shrine for the first day of the year and, after he replied that he didn't, she called him a lock-up worm that sleep his day away, thus unnerving him and manipulating him into deciding to go. Before to hang-up the call Nagatoro also suggested him to visit the Ishido Shrine. The following day, Senpai visited said shrine, discovering Nagatoro had pick up a part-time job there as a miko due to a desire to wear their traditional hakama and kosode. Sulking due to not receiving compliments for her look from the boy, Nagatoro started to insult him as always, getting scolded by him from saying certain things while dressed in such a sacred attire. Then, Nagatoro accompanied him to wash his hand and rinse his mouth in order to purify his body as per rite, before taking him to take an omikuji and bragging about hers. After realizing she did all of that just to show off, since her fortune slip read "great fortune", Senpai open his discovering it read "misfortune". Then more visitors came to the shrine, prompting Senpai to leave in order not to be in-between the slightly disappointed girl's job. Walking home, the boy looked more accurately the omikuji's prediction discovering that in the "love" table it read: "just waiting will not get you anywhere".

Senpai tells Nagatoro that if he "hypothetically" have wanted to ask her out he should work on that himself rather than pray a god.

Later, he decided to went back to the shrine and try to ask Nagatoro out; he appeared to the stand in which she was working, asked for an amulet and managed to say that he would have waited for her at the end of her shift. Although she made fun of the boy calling him a "stalker", Nagatoro was overjoyed and reached for him after twenty minutes asking him what he planned to do. Senpai managed to said that he wished to visit the shrin with her, realizing right at that moment that the place was a matchmaking shrine. Promptly Nagatoro began teasing him that he hoped the two of them would have made "a good couple", leading Senpai to deny it out of embarrassment and reply that if he would have "just hypothetically" wished to ask her out one day he shouldn't have prayed to a god but rather work at himself. Moved, the girl wished for him to work hard at it, then they went praying at the shrine together. While leaving the place together, Nagatoro asked Senpai what he wished for, to wich he answered his family's health, leading the girl to reply her wish was to become his bride, right before adding she was "just kidding".

Few days later Nagatoro entered the art club room, saw a box of contact lenses on the table and teased a mortified Senpai asking if he intended to "change his four eyes look in order to look hot", after the boy replied that he simply wanted to give contact lenses a try, Nagatoro dared him to wear them right at that moment, prompting him to admit he was too scared to put them in his eyes. Due to having previously helped her brother putting his, Nagatoro offered to help Senpai put the lenses and, albeit a little skeptical at first, the boy eventually accepted and sit at her side while the girl crawled on his lap to place the lenses inside his eyes. Nevertheless of Senpai's embarrassment, Nagatoro put both lenses in and, after he asked her how does he looked, the latter replied that he was fine but without his glasses couldn't do "his trick", then she put on Senpai's glasses and mimicked his signature gesture of adjusting them by the bridge while embarrassed. Seeing Nagatoro with his glasses, Senpai blushed, causing the girl to ask him if he thought that she looked cute in glasses.

Somewhat later, during a ski trip with their school, Senpai and his classmates remain impressed by Nagatoro, Gamo-chan, Yoshi and Sakura's talent as they managed effortlessy to ski down the pro course, leading the boy to daydream about skiing together with her down that slope. After she spotted him in the crowd, Nagatoro invited Senpai to ski with her, leading two of his classmates to assume they were dating. Due to Senpai's clumsiness, the girl offered to give him some training, however he didn't managed to gain any result, which result in him getting sad about weighing her down. That night, at the hotel, Senpai and his classmates saw Nagatoro and Sakura in the night skiing group; once again, she invited him to ski with her, however he refused saying he was tired. Seeing that, Gamo-chan asked him the real reason he refused, prompting Senpai to admit his feelings regarding his poor skiing ability compared to Nagatoro's pro skills. Hearing that, Gamo-chan walked away, sweetly replying that the gap in skills between them was not the real issues, which lead Senpai to reach for Nagatoro while his classmates mocked him telling he was turning into a "normalfag".

Later he ski late at night in order to prove, but to no avail. However he is so willing to get better and manage to ski at Nagatoro's side that he doesn't gave up and kept try, even managing to descend a slide in order to save a child. Afterwards, a guy brag with his girlfriend, having her take a video while skiing on one leg and entering collision course with Senpai, wich is saved last minute by Nagatoro. After furiously scolding both the boy and his girlfriend, the girl complimented Senpai for how he skied to save the child, leading him to ask her for additional tutoring. Nagatoro sweetly smiled and told him to stop looking at his own feet and instead, try looking at her. The next morning, Senpai's classmates ask him to show what he learned for "his private instructor", however, after he eventually accept, all he managed to do is fall on the snow causing the whole gang to burst out laughing.

Sometime later, with the school year nearing its end, Senpai complimented the President for having passed a fine art university exam on her first try, however the latter explained that was merely the first step informing that he would be next and asking him if he had decided his own path, to which the boy replied that he wanted to enter a fine art university too, prompting the President to smile gleefully, saying he didn't expect such a clear and direct answer from him asking if it was because of the "Cat-Girl" influence. Senpai debunked said statement, however he later reflected on how much Nagatoro influenced him in the last year and how little he know about what she wanted to achieve in her life. Later, while having judo class in gym, Senpai performed poorly and is friendly teased by his classmates as well as Nagatoro, who was observing him from a window in the corridor. After the lesson, the gym teacher gave flyers about the school's judo tournament to all of his student, when he tried to ask the girl if she was interested in it, Senpai noticed she had disappeared. That afternoon, Gamo-chan and Yoshi stormed into the art club room to ask Nagatoro if she wanted to join the tournament but Senpai informed them that the girl hadn't came that day, prompting Gamo-chan to sadly said that "she still feel like that about judo", to which Senpai asked her more about it. Pleased at the boy's interest, Gamo-chan gave him a flyer of GAMOU Fighting Gym, which she explained being her family business, telling him to giving it a try; looking at the flyer closely Senpai is stunned to notice a picture of Nagatoro on it, promoting newcomer course.

After having been told by Gamo-chan to visit her family's gym that Saturday, Senpai went there while she was boxing with Nagatoro, thus distracting the latter and leading to her being knocked out with a single punch. Embarassed, the girl accused him to having followed her there calling him a stalker, only to be scolded by Gamo-chan not to "rough up" her costumers, thus prompting Nagatoro to reply she invited him only to prank her. Later, Senpai told Nagatoro that he performed badly at the school's last judo tournament, thus asking her to teach him judo, Nagatoro blushed vividly and then sweeten up, shyly accepting his offer. After the two have changed into judogi and done a little ukemi, Gamo-chan went to her lunch break with the other trainers leaving the pair alone and leading Nagatoro to propose randori to a frightened Senpai.

Then, Nagatoro quickly overpowered Senpai pinning him to the ground, where he found himself unable to get free from her grip and is forced to surrender to the girl calling her "too heavy" for him to move, thus offending Nagatoro, who angrily explained that even a light little girl like her could pin someone to the ground by controlling her own center of gravity. Later, he watched Nagatoro's amazing performance during a second match with Gamo-chan. Afterwards, while walking back home togheter, Senpai finally asked Nagatoro if she did judo, to wich she replied that she used to practice it in the past but stopped as she realised that there are "people she simply couldn't beat". Seeing her so sad, after parting her goodbye, Senpai yelled to Nagatoro that he tought her moves were "really beautiful" leading her to blush and smile at the same time before quickly run off.

Few days later the school's judo tournament began and, while Senpai and his classmates watch, Nagatoro won her first round against a girl named Yamashita while Gamo-chan faced Olympic judo team candidate Orihara, being effortlessly overpowered. Afterward, the girl commented with her friend that Nagatoro would have to face Orihara in the following round, referencing their past together. Despite Orihara being friendly and telling Nagatoro she hoped to have "another exciting match" with her, the latter leaves the judo hall disconsolate. Senpai quickly joined the girl in order to comfort her and Nagatoro explained to him that she did judo since childhood and trained with Orihara, however as they grew up she kept growing stronger, prompting Nagatoro to began losing her passion and ultimately quitting after being overwhelmed by Orihara in a match.

Hearing that she didn't even feel like it was worth to fight anymore, Senpai scolded Nagatoro, telling her that this behaviour doesn't feel like her, thus upsetting her. and leading her to told him not to talk like if he knew her, to which he replied quoting what the girl herself once told to him about not knowing what would happen until trying pointing out that even if her adversary is an Olympic candidate Nagatoro herself was quite strong. Blushing, the girl told him that she would have given it a try if he won at least one match; also teasing the boy that in that case she would have also kissed him. Later during his match, while cheered by both of his classmates, Sakura, Gamo-chan and Yoshi, Senpai managed to remember the stuff Nagatoro had taught him, putting up a good fight and eventually leading the girl to gleefully cheer for him, out of herfelf for the joy, which surprised both, the boy, her friends and Nagatoro herself.

Eventually the boy lose his match by points but is complimented by both his opponent and his classmates; thus despite the his defeat, Nagatoro decided to keep her promise anyway and fight against Orihara. Although the two girls were equal in terms of skills, Orihara was given as favorite and thus everyone in the hall except for Nagatoro's friends started to cheer for her, which leaded Senpai to cheer for Nagatoro as she previously did for him. Despite blushing for it, the girl was quite pleased and gained enough confidence to slam Orihara on the floor getting a waza-ari, but eventually she lose by points just like Senpai. The match however does restored Nagatoro's passion for judo, leading her to shaking Orihara's hand after losing and promising her that she would have definitely "get her" next time. Walking home with Senpai, Nagatoro tought back at it and asked him to give her a kiss as a prize when she would have managed to if defeated Orihara, causing the boy to blush telling her not to tease him, to which she replied she wasn't, just a moment before running home with a smile on her face.

Third year of high school

After the new school year officially begun, he took over the art club and exposed a poster to recruit new members, then started doing a painting in order to calm down since he was still thinking about what Nagatoro told him about wanting to have a kiss from him. As the boy was trying to downplay it as a mere joke, the girl stormed into the room complimenting him for being a third year and asking him if he still want her to be his model. The boy quickly accept and thus Nagatoro change into her swimsuit explaining that she hid it into the prep room in order to be always ready for a sketch. Senpai started to draw Nagatoro despite the latter kept teasing him on how red he was and gawking at her. During their first ten minutes pause from the drawing, Nagatoro sweetly revealed to Senpai that she finally joined the judo club, since she really wanted to receive a kiss from him. Seeing the boy's embarrassed reaction, she get frustrated and eventually asked him directly if he wanted to kiss her or not. Before Senpai can answer the question however, Sunomiya entered the room as a freshman at the high school, called him "Hachiouji-senpai" and said she wanted to join the art club.

After having introduced Sunomiya and Nagatoro to one another, the latter get unnerved to be introduced only by her surname, grade and sometimes harsh manners, while Sunomiya, having heard the word "kiss" while in the hallway and seeing how they interacted with one another, asked if they were dating, which Senpai quickly denied much to Nagatoro's chagrin; then the boy explained to Sunomiya that sometimes Nagatoro modeled for him the previous year, but now she won't have that much time as she has club activity. Hearing this, Sunomiya realized that the club doesn't have any other member and thus she and Senpai would have been alone into the club room; despite Nagatoro tried to have the girl change her mind from joining the club telling her she would have catched Senpai's wriggly motions, Sunomiya stated to be able to find beauty into all eccentric things. Right at that moment Gamo-chan - who have also joined the judo club - entered the room to go to practice with her friend and, seeing the girl saddened, teased her asking Senpai if he was "switching girl"; embarassed the boy explained her that he and Nagatoro were simply trying their best separately. Then Sunomiya reassured Nagatoro to leave Senpai in her care and stripped down saying she was ready to pose for him in the nude rather than a simple swimsuit. Outraged, Nagatoro told Sunomiya to put her clothes on again commenting that she's just like the former President, to wich Senpai pointed out that she's actually the President's cousin.

Later, Senpai shown his recent paintings to Sunomiya and she told him they seemed more colorful than the ones he did in middle school, guessing it was because of his new model, which she described as a goddess. The boy denied it stating Nagatoro was more like a demon, to which Sunomiya asked why he did so many painting to her if that the case, which lead the boy to admit he actually enjoyed painting Nagatoro. Understanding the situation, Sunomiya quoted her cousin who said "Love is something one must seek out and take", and thus told Senpai that he must ask out Nagatoro on a date.

First date arc

The boy quickly repelled Sunomiya's suggestion stating that Nagatoro would have never ever accepted to go on a date with him, and all it would have resulted from that would have been the boy getting bullied again by her. Later, as they were leaving the school, Senpai noticed it was getting dark and asked Sunomiya if she informed her family, to which she replied that someone would have picked her up; right at that moment, the former President appeared, riding a bike, and greeted the boy asking him if he was alright. Her younger cousin quickly explained her the situation, prompting the latter to suggest him to follow his heart, right before driving away with her younger cousin. Before going home, Senpai noticed the judo club was yet to finish their practice, thus he decided to wait outside the hall until Nagatoro finished, despite denying having waited her when the girl direcly asked it. Later, as they were walking home together, Nagatoro asked him if he felt alone without her around and admitted she wished there was a place in which they could have been together outside the club room. Hearing this, Senpai found the courage to ask her out on her day off, leaving Nagatoro speechless.

When the girl asked Senpai what he meant and he replied it was only a question, she started to teas him by suggesting impossible places such as Mount Everest, the African Savannah, Antartica, the Jungle or Space. Discouraged, Senpai told her to forget about his question, leading the girl to say that even something closer might be good, pointing out that he should be the one to figure it out where. Puzzled, the boy suggested the cinema, which Nagatoro described as not bad but a bit too normal; then realizing how much she enjoyed places related to animals the boy clumsily followed said pattern suggesting at first the racetrack and then dog fighting. After they came to the fork and get ready to part ways to their respective houses, feeling down for not having managed to invite the girl, Senpai got a last idea and called back Nagatoro asking her out for a date at the aquarium on the following day off, which Nagatoro happily accepted. The morning after, Senpai thanked Sunomiya for the advice she gave to him and told her about having invited Nagatoro at the aquarium, leading the latter to happily congratulate with him; then he left the art club room earlier in order to go buying painting supplies. The following day, as Nagatoro and Senpai met at the aquarium for their date, Gamo-chan, Yoshi, Sunomiya and her cousin all followed them, the first two to "protect Senpai's virginity" while the latter pair to "protect his romance".

After boarding a train to go to the aquarium, Senpai got nervous and Nagatoro noticed it, thus she told him that that would have been just "practice" for him if he ever go on a real date, and that she would have graded with point everything he would have done. Later the pair saw the sharks, jellyfish, crabs, penguins and took a selfie together; however after seeing all of the other couples holding hands, Nagatoro started to ask Senpai if there wasn't something he should have done. While thinking, the boy noticed Gamo-chan, Yoshi and the Sunomiya cousins, so he took Nagatoro by the hand and drag her away, making the girl both blush and smile.

After managing to escape their pursuers, Senpai went seeing the dolphins show with Nagatoro, shielding the latter from a splash of water. During the rest of their date, the girl teased him for all the minus point he had got, then, while watching the sunset at the beach, the girl told him he got 300 minus point, however due to grabbing her hand and shielding her from the splash, he then got 350 points getting a final score of 50. Nagatoro joyfully told Senpai that she would love to tag along again with him on a practice date; hearing this Senpai asked her if it was "practice" for her as well, to which Nagatoro replied that for her it was a real date the whole time.

After this, Senpai told Nagatoro that he didn't considered their date mere practice either, leading the girl to suggest him doing something more "worthy of an actual date" giving him two options: hugging or kissing. Out of embarassement the boy choose hugging, however before they could even touch one another, Gamo-chan and Yoshi stormed the scene followed by the angered Sunomiya cousins, thus ruining the moment. Despite all four of the intruders told them to continue like they weren't there, out of shame Nagatoro lied saying she was merely practicing a judo move on the boy.

The following day Sunomiya brought to Senpai a bento she made by herself and fed him as a way to apologize for what happened at his date with Nagatoro, and they're caught by the girls. Upon hearing Sunomiya's plan to make bento for Senpai the whole week, Nagatoro got jealous and offered Senpai to prepare a bento for him the following day, however the boy refused stating that she would have morning training the following day and it would be too much trouble if she would have spent the evening cooking for him. Disheartened Nagatoro agreed, while all of the girls watch Senpai cooly due to having "made a mess again"; then Gamo-chan convinced him not to be stubborn and accept Nagatoro's offer. Hearing this, Senpai told Nagatoro that he would love to have her bento if she accept to have one from him, wich she joyfully accepted.

The following morning Senpai woke up early in order to make bento for Nagatoro and has a videocall with both Sunomiya cousins, who suggested him to treat making his bento like a food battle with the girl, however he told them he wouldn't. After exchanging bento, both Senpai and Nagatoro are surprised by how good them were, the girl enjoyed especially a karaage with lemon sauce that the boy admitted to have cooked thinking how much the training could exhaust her - as lemon is good to reduce fatigue - while Senpai praised it for how normal it was - since he expected something weird as always - and especially enjoyed its salmon filled onigiri, making the girl quite happy, as she prepared them in order to please him following her big sister's advice. After finishing eating, Nagatoro and Senpai agreed to make bento to one another everyday by taking turns, and the girl joked it will make them seem like a newlywed couple.

Trouble at the Judo club arc

The following day, Nagatoro made bento for Senpai and herself as agreed and they ate it together, then the boy asked her if she wanted something particular for the day after since it would be his turn to cook, leading Nagatoro to tease him saying she would have loved to ate something that increase stamina; making fun of him after he wrongly guessed she meant something lewd rather than her club activity. After the girl went out of the room, saying she would have been busy after club activity and thus they would have seen each other directly the following day, Sunomiya came in and advised the boy to "keep up his guard" as he was "swimming into the open ocean" and thus "water filled of sharks". Later that day, walking home from school, Senpai saw Nagatoro talking to a boy and panicked, thinking that guy to be her ex; however he decide to approach them, greeting both casually and waiting for Nagatoro's reaction to decide if starting a conversation or run off. The girl greeted him happily and Senpai stop to talk with them.

Before Nagatoro could introduce him to Senpai, the boy stopped her and begin to inquire him about his relationship with her. Senpai, not knowing how to describe it, stated that the girl was his junior at school, prompting the boy to further asking him how much he knew about her, implying that he is aware of her sleeping posture and saw it several times, which lead Senpai to convince himself that the latter was her ex. Angered and embarrassed, Nagatoro attacked the boy, who demonstrated to be a superior fighter and told her not to forget that he taught her how to fight. Shocked at the developement, Senpai jumped in between them ordering him not to put Nagatoro in any more danger as, despite not knowing much about her, he knew what made her happy or sad. Pleased, the boy complimented Senpai and then leave the scene stating that it would have been gross to see "his little sister" acting "all flirty". Later, walking back home, Nagatoro guessed that Senpai was jealous due to believing her brother to be her ex-boyfriend and thus began teasing him.

After that day, Senpai started to wonder about how much he really know regarding how Nagatoro's days are. Remembering one of their usual lunches together in which the girl admitted that she actually tought having late practice every night to be hard but also fun since she aimed at receiving a kiss from him after defeating Orihara, he blushed and told to himself to put the kiss aside. Later, he eavesdropped a bunch of girls from the judo club speaking badly about Nagatoro during their break time, since they considered her to be "a quitter who half-assed her life"; the boy got rather angry and peeked inside the gym, where the group leader, Shikki, challenged Nagatoro to a match eventually hurting the latter's right arm.

Both, Gamo-chan and Orihara got worried due to Nagatoro having injuried her wrist in the match, however the latter dismissed it as nothing serious, while Shikki mocked her saying that getting injuried so easily meant she "didn't even tried". Angered by this, Senpai stormed into the room and confronted Shikki - pleasently surprising Gamo-chan, Orihara and Nagatoro herself - telling her that what she had said was wrong due to Nagatoro actualy trying very hard everyday; to which the girl got surprisingly meeker and shy. Seeing their friend in trouble, the other two girls of Shikki's group accused Senpai of being a stalker and spying on them, however Nagatoro intervened saying that the boy always waited for her when she had judo practice; later the girl let herself be taken to the infirmary and discovered that her wrist was broken and would have needed two weeks in order to fully recover. The following morning while walking to school together, Senpai apologized to Nagatoro for having intervened, but she instead thanked him saying he acted "kinda like a boyfriend"; then, just as the boy replied that he hoped Shikki's group won't take a revenge on Nagatoro, the trio appeared before them to apologize.

Being unable to go to judo practice due to her broken wrist, Nagatoro spent the saturday in the art club with Senpai and later decided to have basic training albeit sad to do it alone; which promped the boy to join her and have a run around the city together with her, passing in front of the judo hall to greet Orihara and Gamo-chan. After coming back to school, feeling cold due to the sweat, Nagatoro proposed Senpai to have a quick shower in her club's new showers room. There, the two "showered together" albeit separated from the thin wall that divided the boys' from the girls' section and had an heart-to-heart chat in which Senpai praised Nagatoro for how positively she faced her injury, leading her to admit she can do it only because he was there to cheer for her.

Right at that moment the boy heard some voices and saw Shikki enter the section in which he was hidden together with her friends; the boy managed to hid just in time while she walked right in his box's direction.

The trio of girls discussed on how, after the place was renewed, the positions of the male's and female's room were swapped. Overhearing this, Senpai and Nagatoro realized they were in the wrong rooms, however despite at first the boy planned to stay hidden and sneak out after the trio left, Fujimin quickly detected "a boy scent" and angrily start looking for him with the other girl, while Shikki managed to hear Nagatoro's voice and, thinking she was having a shower where Senpai was hidden, approached said box in order to ask about her well-being and - opening it - found him. Understanding the situation quickly, Shikki covered for the boy and offer to help him sneaking outside by covering him with her body, however feeling bad at the idea of being that close to a girl while both half-naked, Senpai politely refused, prompting Shikki to promise she would have therefore hurried herself and her friends out of the showers in order to "be even" with Nagatoro but, right at that moment, more girls entered the shower room, forcing Shikki to enter the box with Senpai in order to keep him hidden and even open the shower head - thus starting showering - to avoid suspicion.

Despite the awkwardness, of being stuck in the shower box - fully naked - with him, Shikki began to open up to Senpai confessing that his bravery when defending Nagatoro impressed her and, after the boy apologized for having yelled at her and explained that he did it simply because he knew how hard Nagatoro was trying, Shikki revealed that the reason she acted that way was that Nagatoro once defeated her easily in a fight but, after quitting for so many years, her movmements had gotten stiff; indirectly admitting that she missed "the old Nagatoro". Right at that moment he noticed Shikki's ass was rubbing against his, thus the girl tried changing position ending up pressing her bosom against the boys back. Jealous, Nagatoro then jumped in the gap dividing the male and female shower boxes and squished herself into it to reach the other side, impressing Shikki with the flexibility she remembered and landing right in Senpai's arms after losing her grip. Then, as Shikki exited the showers advising the pair to wait few more minutes before doing the same, Nagatoro teased him for having felt up her naked body.

After discovering that their field trip in Kyoto would have been together with the 2nd years, his friends appointed Senpai as the group leader, leaving him to coming up with a plan, thus he explained it to Nagatoro that revealing of said initiative to the unsuspecting girl and causing her to start daydreaming about it until he stated that they might not even be in the same group. However due to the boy creating a boring program revolving around visiting Buddhist art locations, his group at first had no applicants until Nagatoro, Gamo-chan, Yoshi and Sakura all signed up despite, after joining it, they also started to change the program radically: Nagatoro added a trip to Kyoto's aquarium, Gamo-chan added a visit to the Shinsengumi base, Sakura an excursion to Toei Kyoto Studio Park and finally Yoshi a jaunt to Nara in order to feed deer.

Remembering an advice from the Presdent received during the previous year field trip, he tried to be firm and explain that there wouldn't be enough time for everything they wanted to do, to which the girls asked him to remove some of the buddhist temples from the schedule; Senpai oppose to the idea and try to explain the beauty of each statue but, despite impressed by his passion, the girls confessed that they weren't intrested in the statues, prompting Takao to suggest splitting the group so everyone would be happy. Albeit a bit saddened, Senpai agreed to said proposal, causing Nagatoro to get angry and storm out of the room. Afterward, Gamo-chan proposed to wrap-up the issue and told him she would have talk to Nagatoro to calm her down; after everyone went back home Senpai is confronted by Sunomyia who, after hearing what happened told him there would have be no way to reach an understanding with "those fiendish spawn of hell", causing Senpai to reply that splitting was the only one. Sakura however, who came back and overheard them, calmly explained to Senpai that the real reason because Nagatoro got mad was that she was looking foward to enjoy the trip with him.

After hearing Sakura and thanking her - which she replied not to mention it - Senpai reflect on what happened and eventually asked Sunomiya to help him making a simplified version of the trip's program. Later that night, he went to Nagatoro's house and sent her a message asking her to meet him outside, then he gave her said new program explaining he managed to decrease the amount of location to visit and have the afternoon of the second day as free time. Thus, he asked the girl if she wanted to go visiting Kyoto's aquarium with him, which she accepted right before offering to help him visit everyone's house to distribute the new program.

During the train trip to Kyoto, Senpai took pictures of Mount Fuji and has a commemorative photo with the rest of the group then, due to the girls being too excited, he briebed them all promising to increase the amount of free time the following day if they behave themselves; later he enjoyed the trip for the streets of the city, has lunch at the same table with Nagatoro, Gamo-chan and Yoshi, visited a temple and then went back to their hotel, taking a bath and wondering if the were enjoying their trip too. After meeting Nagatoro in front of a vending machine, the girl reassured him that they were all having a great time, then he joyned his friends to play UNO in their room. Later, while playing several different tabletop game, Takao and the other boy inquired Senpai about the nature of his relationship with Nagatoro, eventually prompting him to admit that he promised her a kiss as a reward if she'll defeat Orihara. That night, before going to sleep, Nagatoro sent a message to Senpai asking him if he was ready to have his free time with her, to which he answered that he was looking forward to it.

During the free activity day the group split: Nagatoro and Senpai went to the aquarium to see the penguins and enjoy their day together before venturing to Kiyomizu-dera, prompting Senpai to admit it was something pretty "tame" he didn't expected from Nagatoro, however the girl warned him not to be so sure and, mutch to his embarrassement, forced him to rent a kimono with her before drag him to Kyoto's top matchmaking spot: Jishu Shrine. At first hesitant, the boy in soon persuaded and followed the girl inside, there they were attacked by Fujimin and the other girl, however the duo are stopped by Gamo-chan and Yoshi, who allowed them to continue their visit while they fend them off. Thus the couple arrived right in front of two love fortune stones, the shrine's main event since it's said that if someone managed to go from a stone to the other one without looking, his or her romance will come true, but if said person doesn't in one go, it's romance won't happen.

Urged by Nagatoro, Senpai decided to give it a try but - while halfway to the opposite stone - he's once again accosted by the malevolent pair and hit with wooden swords, losing track of the path and, due to what Nagatoro have told him about doing it in one go, he panicked. As he tried to regain his bearings, he imagined himself missing his last chance to disclose his feelings to Nagatoro and growing apart from her until casually running into the girl two years later, only to see her driving off in a car with another guy. Recognizing that this wasn't what he wanted, He finally admitted to himself that he's in love with her and wants the two of them to be lovers.

Coming back to his senses and with his eyes still shut, he starts to call Nagatoro's name, prompting the latter to run in front of the second love stone and called to him in turn, thus allowing the boy to find the path once again. Although the other two girls tried to attack him again, their efforts were thwarted by the combined intervention of Orihara, Shikki, Gamo-chan and Yoshi. When Senpai reached the stone, Nagatoro greeted him and he asked if it was okay since he was helped finding the path, however the girl explained the only important rule is keeping the eyes closed; as she began messing with him the boy blushed and said he doesen't really believe in fortune telling. After Nagatoro thanked her friends and rival and reached for the love stone herself, they went back to the hotel. Then Senpai remembered having promised Nagatoro a kiss if she win and wished her luck on her match with Orihara.

After coming back home, Senpai is greeted by Sunomiya and gave her some yatsuhashi he bought her as a souvenir. The girl promptly asked him if there had been any progress with his romance, leading the boy to admit that he finally realized his feelings, to which she gladly replied that he needed to confess to Nagatoro. That evening, Senpai watched Nagatoro as she trained with Shikki at the judo club with Orihara and Gamo-chan commenting the fight. Later, they went back home together and the boy reflected on how much he felt there was a gap between him and Nagatoro but also how much he wanted to overcome it to "run right alongside her". After admitting he wanted to date her, Senpai became very conscious about Nagatoro, to the point of trying not to walk too close to her while in public or in other people's presence, however after speaking to Sunomiya she suggested him to try grab her hand in order to see if their feeling were mutual. That day, albeit sceptical, while on their way home, Senpai decided to try and managed to grab Nagatoro's pinky with his. Feeling embarrassed, the boy quickly tried to downplay the gesture, however Nagatoro proceded in grabbing his hand without reply and the two walk home together in silent, both blushing out of happiness.

Some time later, he went to a class trial for Kainan Art Preparation School in order to get ready for entering an art school, however while there he started to feel nervous and not at the other students' level, something he open up about with Nagatoro that very same night during a phone call. The following day the former President visited the art club earlier than usual (under Nagatoro's request) and instead to just pick up Sunomiya reassured Senpai regarding his art skills and offered to teach him a secret technique to overcome anxiety while drawing; the boy eagerly accepted, to which the former President revealed said method is to "repeatedly exposing to the shocks of overwhelming art", namely by doing nude sketching, and thus she stripped naked, shocking both Senpai and the eavesdropping Nagatoro.

Nagatoro quickly stormed into the room in order to turn Senpai's chair around preventing him from seeing the former President's nudity and scolding the latter for going nude, thus prompting her to explain that nudity is nothing to be ashamed about and nude painting is one of the pillar of arts, causing both Sunomiya and Senpai to agree. Hearing this Nagatoro offered to be Senpai's model for his new picture, causing the former President to explain that in that case she would have to do it in the nude. Out of jealousy, Nagatoro agreed with said terms stating she would enjoy seeing senpai nosebleed for seeing her nude, thus angering the former President who scolded her for underestimating nude modeling, informing her that she would not yield her position as a nude model to someone who would "stain that divine art form with fickle intention". Thus the two girls decided to settle the dispute with a nude modeling challenge the following day. After the Sunomiya girls left, Nagatoro asked Senpai who he'd prefer to draw, however the boy replied to put that aside and , worried, asked her if she was really ok with ging nude but Nagatoro stubbornly refused to back off.

The following day, he was in the art club with the former President, who told him not to be embarrassed in drawing nudes and that Nagatoro herself asked her to help him; hearing this the boy get determined in doing the nude sketch, however right at that moment Nagatoro entered the room, clad in just a towel, prompting the older girl to leave the position of nude model to her due to the determination she see in her eyes. The girl then told him that she was in his care and get ready to be drawn in the nude.

Seeing Nagatoro stepping on the pod, Senpai wondered if she was really fully naked underneath the towel instead of having a swimsuit as previously done to mock him, however after noticing her shoulders lack any kind of straps, the boy understood that she was serious about posing in the nude. Nagatoro herself remarked that, not being a nudist like the former President, she wasn't taking it lightly and asked if he did wanted to draw her in the nude, to which the boy answered affirmatively. Despite some embarrassment, Nagatoro took off her towel showing her bare back to Senpai and the latter started to draw her. Then, noticing she was actually very nervous, he complimented her look but, not wanting to sound like a pervert, simply stated that all the muscle she gained since the previous year are the proof of her hard work at the club. The girl blushed at the compliment and the duo enjoyed the moment, however after the drawing was completed Nagatoro refused to look at it out of embarrassment and quickly run off. Few days later, Senpai returned to Kainan Art Preparation School and the teacher complimented him for how much he had gotten better and, to the point of asking the boy what changed, to which he thought back at Nagatoro's painting and replied that he started "enjoy drawing".

After Nagatoro posed in the nude for Senpai, they became quite self-conscious about one another, however after they shared their usual bento togheter, the awkwardness is quickly shaked away as the girl noticed he added extra meat for her in order to get stronger and defeat Orihara, prompting the girl to insinuate he really do whant her to kiss him; which lead the boy to tell her to put it aside. After the lunch, Nagatoro proposed Senpai to go at the shaved ice store they ultimately didn't get to enter the previous year, where they once again found a huge amount of people waiting in line. Stubbornly determined to get into the store this time, Nagatoro insisted to get in line and, after the heat got too strong to bear, Senpai used the umbrella he had brought with him to repair them, impressing the girl. Ultimately, Nagatoro and Senpai managed to enter the store and ate their longly-desired shaved ice; later, the girl saddened up a bit thinking that would be their last year enjoying those kind of moments togheter, prompting Senpai to say that he would gladly skip university in order to have shaved ice with her. Walking home joyfully, Nagatoro and Senpai started to joke about him deliberately failing his entrance exame for the sake of their shaved ice.

After witnessing a training match between Nagatoro and Orihara, while walking back home with the former Senpai noticed that, while Orihara possessed a special fighting tecnique, Nagatoro had none, to which the latter replied that she has a special technique just for him which she dubbed "Senpai Killer"; thus hugging him for behind before saying to put it aside, since in the three-days special training camp she will go starting from Tuesday she planned to get a special techinque. Hearing that, Senpai thought that, despite being happy for her, he wanted to be the one to confess first, and before they kiss for their promise. The following day, after complimenting him for wenting to both the cram school and the art club, Sunomiya asked Senpai about his plan to confess to Nagatoro, to which he ultimately stated that he wanted to do it after archieving a goal of some sort. Then, noticing he will have the mock exam at the end of the month, she suggested him to aim at gaining the first place in it, which he ultimately agreed. Right at that moment, the former President stormed in, taking her clothes off and claiming that she wanted to help him by holding a special three-day training camp for him also starting from Tuesday.

Then, Nagatoro entered the room finding the girl giving a full frontal to Senpai, with the younger Sunomiya starting to strip as well saying she would have helped him too. After Nagatoro entered the room the trio cleared the situation telling her about their training camp. Senpai accepted the cousins' offer in order to improve himself, causing Nagatoro to happily blush pointing out that seeing him getting so mature made her feel a little lonely; right after that she left the room causing the boy to chase her. Later on, the first day of the training camp, the former President arranged for them to have it together with the judo club, so they went in the same place as them and introduced themselves to their members. Both Senpai and Nagatoro were overjoyed to have training camp together, then the girl's brother and sister greeted Senpai who, despite still being kinda scared of both of them, tried to relax thinking he had nothing to fear as he had done nothing wrong, before remembering he had actually made a paint of their little sister in the nude. During the trip to the city of Nagatoro - where the camp is held - Senpai is teased by both Misaki and Taiga due to them having realized he was afraid, much to Nagatoro's discomfort. After arriving to the city he is separated from the girl and taken to a meeting room rented by the former President, who explained that the majority of private universities split practical and theorical in 6:4 for their entrance exames, thus having Senpai concentrating on study while her cousin on sketches. Later that evening, during a break, Senpai watch Nagatoro's training and subsequently went back to his studies even more determinated.

Later that evening, the former President told him to call it a day and go taking a bath in order to freshen himself up, however Sunomiya (who was working together with Gamo-chan, Yoshi and Sakura to made him met Nagatoro) kept him into the meeting room for twenty minutes using some excuses, afterwards the boy is spotted by Taiga and Misaki, who asked him to join them in playing Uno and have a little chat. At first Senpai accepted their offer due to wanting to overcame his fears, however after sensing Nagatoro passing outside, he asked her siblings to speak another time and reached for the girl, telling her not to force herself and asking her to join him at the baths. Overjoyed, Nagatoro accepted and proposed to him to went to the onsen instead, however when they reached it, Nagatoro and Senpai discovered that is mixed-gender and, after exiting the changing room, finding themselves naked together.

After realizing it, Senpai tried to run out of the onsen, however Nagatoro prevented him for doing it by grabbing his wrist and the duo proceeded in sharing a bath. Seeing how embarrassed the boy is, Nagatoro started to tease him by remembering that he had already lost his "nudity virginity" to her, when she bared it all to him while doing their nude painting. Senpai answered that is not the same thing, to which Nagatoro asked if he was having lewd thoughts and, after he replied affirmatively the girl - touched and visibly aroused - told him he was getting "too cocky" and intentionally pushed her nude breasts against his back then saying she wanted to kiss him, and asking once again if he want a kiss from her or not, finally leading the boy to admit he did. Overjoyed, the girl lean in in order to do it however stopped her and ask if she was giving up on defeating Orihara. Outraged, Nagatoro explainet she wasn't, stating that however she felt that the gap between them is too big and thus she was feeling "lost". Saddened, the girl asked him to "cheer her up a little", but the boy firmly refused and, after the girl asked why, he explained that it's because she was "his enemy"; however, seeing her teary-eyed, he quickly pointed out that he mean it in a rivalry way due to both of them aiming to a goal and intending to "saying something to her" if he managed to archieving it. Hearing this, Nagatoro blushed and happily accepted his challenge in seeing which one would have reached their goal first, stating that she would have punished him if he'd lose.

The following day an overjoyed Senpai zoned out with a gleeful expression and was thus jokingly scolded by the Sunomiya girls; then he has lunch with Nagatoro, who asked him suggestion for a "killer technique" stating he was always full of surprise, which caused the boy to admit that she herself is, and he like her because "he can never tell what she will come up with next".

On the last day of training camp, the Sunomiya girls congratulate Senpai for having pass their simulated mock exam, telling him to concentrate to oil painting and sketches from that moment on, due to is techincal knowledge being enought. However in order to be sure of the results, he studied all night long until eventually exhausting himself and thus, in the afternoon, after the club members were given free time to enjoy the city till evening, he is too tired to safely go sailing as Nagatoro suggested him. Noticing this, the girl suggested him to hang out together and doing something else; at first Senpai refused telling her not to waste the opportunity to sail, however he later change his mind and take Nagatoro's hand asking her to go search something fun to do around the city.

Realizing they were on a date and how much she was looking forward to go sailing, Senpai decided to do his best in order to make sure Nagatoro have fun, to they went to the mall, the zoo, the shrine and eventually a park. There, however, Senpai briefly fall asleep due to the day's tiredness and, after Nagatoro asked him if he was alright, the boy admitted that he was trying hard due to them being on a date together, causing a joyfu Nagatoro to admit he didn't have to do anything special due to "them being together feeling stimulating enought for her". The girl then made him rest with the head on her lap.

Kainan's Big Four

After returning from training camp, he open up with Nagatoro about Aihara, Hashimoto and Machida, his cram school's "Triumvirate", looking down to him due to having joined the institute only so late in his school life; however, being determinate to step out of his comfort zone, the following day he approached and eventually made friend with them, especially Machida. That evening, watching them walk home together, Nagatoro get jealous after seeing Machida placing an hand on Senpai's shoulder and step in, thanking them for looking after the boy, right before walking away with him.

Senpai challenges Machida.

The following day Senpai discover he would have been at prep school all day long and informed Nagatoro with a text message. Later, due to his improving scores and friendship with the Triumvirate, the teacher declared that from that moment on they would have been the school's "Big Four". As they shared drink to celebrate the moment, Hashimoto and Aihara asked Senpai about his girlfriend, prompting him to admit Nagatoro was not; right at that moment the girl came into the room - having been paying a visit to him - and is visibly sad to confirm his statement. Both Hashimoto and Aihara got flirty with Nagatoro, immediately causing Machida to scold them due to being close to their entrance exams, which she considered a matter of pass or fail and to whom she had thrown away everything else. Hearing this, the boy Senpai confess that he simply can't throw everything away for it and declared his intention to beat her at their upcoming entrance exam.

Hearing said claims Machida lashed out but is quickly - albeit ineffectively - stopped by Aihara and Hashimoto; then Keinan's teachers entered the room explaining that the person they ask to model for the rough sketch portion of the first day of mock exam was unaveilable due to a sudden emergency and, noticing Nagatoro, asked her to replace her, which the latter gladly accept - despite being the day before her tournament - saying it woldn't be her first time doing it. Senpai became worried that they intended Nagatoro to pose in the nude, however the teacher replied that making someone underage doing it would be a crime. Seeing Senpai's and Nagatoro's worried expression Aihara and Hashimoto correctly guessed the girl did pose naked for him before. This ultimately caused Machida to snap proposing a bet to Senpai: the one who gain the lower score at mock exam would have posed nude for the other.

The bet left both Nagatoro and Senpai stunned, however being determined to prove how serious he is about getting the first place in order to confess to Nagatoro, the boy eventually accepted. Later, while walking home, an angered Nagatoro asked him why he was so stubborn into accepting, causing the boy to tell her that it was due to Machida's claim of needing to thow everything away to pursuit art, whom he didn't whant to accept. After the girl asked him what did he mean by that, Senpai simply answered he could not explain it to her yet, and run off. The following day, the boy told the Sunomiya girls about the bet, causing the older one to tell him that she remembered Machida from cram school and considered her skills superior to her own, also claiming that the only reason because she passed her exam while Machida didn't was due to her choosing as a motif something to which she excel and know how to appeal the best: a self painting. Then, she remembered Senpai that "a paint done with love would have surely moved the viewer's heart" and asked him what motif he has choose; smiling, he answered that it was "someone whose appeal he knew the best": Nagatoro.

On August 26th, Senpai has the mock exam and Nagatoro modeled in her judogi following his advice due to "looking good on her". At lunch break, she was compimented by both Aihara and Hashimoto, who invited her and Senpai to join them at a curry restaurant, however the two replied that they already have Nagatoro's handmade bentos. After the two boys joked about being impossible of them not being a couple, Machida got angry again, causing the duo to take care of her while Nagatoro and Senpai go have their bentos. Later, while having lunch on the roof, the girl asked Senpai about what he was saying the previous day, causing the boy to answer that it didn't feel right to him abandoning everything in order to draw as it would mean reverting back to how he was before meeting her and starting to change into his present self. After Nagatoro apologized for how rough she was to him at first, Senpai told her that despite that he held their time together as "fun memories". The boy firmly claimed that he stopped abandoned everything and instead wanting to stuck with what he cared the most, stating that it made him draw better than ever before; thus saying he intended to keep drawing Nagatoro for the rest of his life. After realizing Senpai's statement sounded ike a proposal, both the boy and Nagatoro blushed and laugh it off.

Despite keep mocking him due to his proposal-like statement, Nagatoro claimed to understand the meaning of Senpai's word and to sharing his belief to keep loved ones close. After lunch break's end, the boy finished his sketching session and his painting was praised by both Aihara, Hashimoto and Machida as well, who apologized to him stating she was wrong in claiming that her life philosohpy was the only right one; also, she told him that albeit his was without doubt the superior painting between theirs, she would have make up for it during the second day of mock exam. That evening, walking home, Senpai wished Nagatoro good luck and, the following day, has the second part of his mock exam.

During lunch break, he explained to Machida, Aihara and Hashimoto his plan to confess to Nagatoro if he get first place just like the latter planned to share a kiss with him if winning against Orihara. The trio playfully laugh it off as overcomplicating the matter, then noted the similarities between his painting styla and the President's, prompting the boy to admit she was his mentor, mutch to Machida's anger due to considering the latter "her natural enemy". At the end of mock exam, Senpai and Machida parted amicably; then Nagatoro came to the school, saw his painting, complimented it and revealed that her group also won the district qualifiers; thus she looked forward to fight Orihara the following day. That evening, while going home on the train, Nagatoro fall asleep on Senpai's shoulder. The next day however, after the result were published, Senpai found out that he scored second place behind Aihara. At first, the boy felt like having betrayed the promise he made to Nagatoro and to be unable to reach for her, thus he got depressed, however the former President reminded him that challenges are a matter of calculation and luck, restoring his spirit and leading for them to go cheering for Nagatoro at the judo tournament tegether with Sunomiya, Aihara, Hashimoto and Machida.

After arriving he assisted Nagatoro winning her second match, then, while watching Orihara's conforted Machida telling her that Nagatoro would have had a comeback on her rival that very same day and, and thus the same thing would have happened for her on the following year's mock exam. Afterwards, during lunch break, Sempai and the whole gang rejoined the judokas deciding where to eat, there Nagatoro asked him about the result of his mock exam. The boy confessed to her that he didn't managed to score first place but he still intended to tell her "that something he was planning to" after the following mock exam, in winter. Albeit reluctantly Nagatoro accepted to wait and they share bentos feeding one another.

Before the start of the second half of the tournament, both Senpai and Nagatoro parted ways - the former wishing luck to the girl - while Orihara watched them for afar. Then, after assisting at Asaka, Shikki and Orihara winning their third round and Gamo-chan losing hers despite putting on a good fight; Nagatoro got nervous due to the match with her rival being the following one and thus go buy some water, being approached by Senpai who conforted her about her feeling of the match being "the end of everything" sating that it won't be and that he would have been at her side throughout all of her journey. The pair exchanged an hug while being, unbeknown for them, watched once again by Orihara. Later on, Senpai assisted at the match between Nagatoro and Orihara, cheering for the former and, after the two reached a standoff, he remembered Nagatoro the trowing technique she used against her sister, leading the girl to ultimately score a ful point winning the fight.

The following day, during club activities, he commented the match with Sunomiya, who complimented him for his cheering saying that it was "the power of his love" that made Nagatoro win; then the girl asked him when he planned to confess, to which he pointed out that, having not gotten the first place on the mock exam, he can't, also he confessed that he felt a little worried about how to approach Nagatoro now that she has reached her goal while he didn't; however after Sunomiya told him that he had to face the real thing, the boy met with Nagatoro realising he was overflowing with feelings he wanted to express to her thus, after the girl asked to go speaking in a quiet place, they run hand in hand to the beach and sit on a bench under a gazebo in order to discuss their feelings. There, despite teasing him a little, the girl made him undestand that she was trying to find a way to express her feelings as well, which ultimately led the boy to speak up admitting that: when he first met Nagatoro, he felt like being attacked by a ferocious beast, prompting her, who felt offended, to stating back that at the time she felt like he was nothing more than a "creepy sea roach"; smiling, he said that he was indeed living under the shadows until she, as a beast, dragged him out into sunlight; then, he stated that he often wondered why she wanted to hang around someone like him, reminding her how many times she acted like a tyrant or humiliated him - thus making her blush out of embarrassement; however, all the time he spent with her caused him to change causing his "dull and gray world to start shine in full color".

As an overjoyed Nagatoro broke down in tears, the boy eventually confessed his feelings for her and asked her out. Drying off her tears, Nagatoro also admitted that her days were all bland until she met him and that he changed her as well, thus warmly asking him to take responsibility for it. Later on, the couple walked hand-in-hand on the beach as an official couple when Senpai remembered about the kiss he promised her. He reminded Nagatoro about it, causing the girl to freak out due to being in public and instinctively throw him on the sea. The both of them apologized to each other afterwards.

That night, while taking a bath, he thought back about having finally confessed to Nagatoro, when the latter sent him a text apologizing for what happened and recommending him to take a hot bath in order not to get sick. After the boy told her he was aldready doing it, she called him to inform him she was doing the same and teasing him if he was picturing her in the nude. Senpai tried pointlessy to deny it; however, the girl remember him that, being lovers, the contrary would be weird, thus proposing a videocall while they were both in the bathtub. After they videocall one another, Nagatoro didn't do anything to cover her upper body, causing him to blush, before she pointed out the two of them were already past that point due to went at the onsen together and that she even posed nude for him. He relaxed, inadvertitely causing his phone to fall and thus allowing a startled Nagatoro to seen his groin, prompting the latter to drop her facade, blushing and shouting that "she wasn't ready for it".

The following day Senpai informed Sunomiya about he and Nagatoro having officially became a couple, causing the girl to compiment him and ask him if they did managed to exchange their long awaited kiss, leading him to admit that despite he tried to kiss Nagatoro, the latter panicked due to being in the public and threw him into the sea. Sunomiya conforted Senpai telling him not to stress too much over it. Later that day, Nagatoro stormed into the art club room asking out Senpai, who promptly accepted. The couple visited a park and a shrine together hoping to find a quiet place to exchange their first kiss, however all of those place ended up being way more busy than they had thought, then Nagatoro realised that she had left her phone in the art club, both of them went back there discussing how, despite their plans hadn't worked out, they were happy to have spent time together as a couple. Later, they reached the art club, discussed nostalgically about the first time Nagatoro visited it and Senpai admitted she missed having her around there a little. Hearing this, Nagatoro asked him to get closer, to which the boy nod, leading the two of them to evantually share their very first kiss.

Webcomic

In the original webcomic, Hachiouji senpai is mostly an unseen character and the stories is often narrated in a first-person perspective through his point of view. In said iteration he is even more of a doormat for the highly sadistic Hayase Nagatoro.

At the beginning of the story he and Nagatoro apparently knew each other for a while and, the day after having cheered for her at a sport competition, Hachiouji invited her at the park in order to try asking her out; anticipating his intention, the girl started to insult him stating that he was unworthy of her affection and calling him "gross", "embarrassing", a "maggot", "human garbage", a "pig" and a "cockroach", until he finally confessed his love to her and asked her out, which she accepted telling him that she was doing it only to make him her own toy to play with and that she would have made fun in breaking him. Since then, Nagatoro and Hachiouji started to date, however she kept torturing him, though he reached breaking point when the girl made him believe her brother Ichirō was her real boyfriend and she was merely toying with him; although eventually he takes her back.

Hachiouji helps Nagatoro's martial arts training in the webcomic's 3rd issue: Nagatoro-san's sandbag.

Once Nagatoro proposed Hachiouji that if he allowed her to use his butt as a sandbag for practicing kicks she would have go to the ocean with him. Despite promising to kick him very lightly, during said practice she got visibly aroused over the pain she was inflicting to him and started to hit with powerful muay thai kicks. Despite the pain, even the same Hachiouji seemingly gained some sexual pleasure from the treatment. However, when the last bow sent him to the ground motionless she got worried, apologized and told him to be prepared as she would "train him like an animal" when they would go to the ocean. Over the years, the girl seemingly sweeten up a bit over Hachiouji and on the Christmas night of her (presumably) last year before graduation, they went on a date, sharing a dinner at a ramen kiosk since she deemed more "christmassy" stuff "too lover-like" for them. Walking home they take two can of hot coffee while sitting on the park and talked about their dreams for the future before exchanging Christmas gift: Hachiouji gave her a muffer while the girl, showing she wasn't completely changed, gave him a choker.

Sometime after (or maybe a little before) this, the couple sat on a park bench looking at a dead cicada that was eaten by ants while they were eating ice lollys. Saying the bug came out the safety of underground, eventually facing death in order to do "lewd things", Nagatoro started to tease Hachiouji senpai with some sexual remarks, before to showing him that the stick of her ice lolly has a sign that marked she has won another one as a prize and went to claim it alongside him.

In the very first illustration of the character, Hachiouji has lighter hair and paler skin than in the manga; also, in neither of his only two physical appearances the character wear his trademark horn-rimmed glasses, looking less of a stereotypical nerd. A trait which is later introduced in the manga as well, since after Chapter 73 Senpai started to wear contact lenses and, as of Chapter 147, he has been drawn without his glasses for more chapters than he had been drawn wearing them.

Due to his surname being known from the start, the first issue also revealed the character is called the "beansprout prince" behind his back, where the "prince" part is only meant as a pun on his name (which means "eight princes") and not as a term of admiration.
